The bare metal respray on 4280 is finished and it's going back together. I had all the chrome redone, but missed a small place on the windshield chrome insert. Should I leave it or have it rechromed? Chrome is excellent everywhere but in this one place which is just above the steering wheel.
Can't decide. What would you do?

I would leave it as well, it may annoy you but you could damage the paintwork getting the chrome trim off.

You would have to pull the windshield to get the chrome trim out. Risk of paint damage is pretty small. I too would just live with it if it wasn't too noticeable.

I'd definitely have it redone. From the photo it looks like whatever marred the chrome (resembles a grinder or polisher mark?) went through the chrome, the nickel, down to the copper. As time goes on the copper will darken and that mark will become all the more noticeable.

Also I didn't get from your post if the windshield surround was or was not included as part of your chrome run. If yes, all the more reason to deal with it now since the chrome shop might take responsibility for that flaw and redo it (ask them first). Good luck getting any help if you go back to them 2-3 years from now.

Believe me I understand your frustration. You had everything installed and thought you were done, but if you felt the need to ask on the forum it likely bugs you enough that you'll notice it every time you look at that area. Good luck and don't forget to post pics when you're done. We love Dinos! :)

It's still at the paint shop and he's offered to remove it so I can get it chromed. Big pain!
I'm on again off again as to what to do. If I can get it done fairly quickly that's probably the right thing to do. When I think about it what's a few hundred more when I've spent this much for the bare metal respray.
    Today I'm on.

    Re-chrome. No doubt about it.
Would you go out with a shaving gash on your chin to a gala dinner? Maybe a band-aid, but not very cool looking...
What would our friend in Chicago say?

    Did not think so...:)

    Regards, Alberto

get it redone... otherwise it will distract you...
and distractions are the job of the lady sitting in the passenger seat... not a scuff mark on the chrome!

It's at the chrome shop. I had to drive it 100 miles because UPS wanted $142.00 to ship since it is oversize and that didn't include insurance!
