Thought i'd pop in as i haven't been over here for a while.

I have a thread running on another forum following the rebuild / refresh of my E-Type

Here's a video of her recently on the dyno

Hi Jason... good to see things are going well with the e-type. I know you've done quite a bit to the lovely old girl already.

What was the official dyno figure? Jaguar "said" 265bhp for both 3.8 & 4.2 cars, but I know yours has some race trickery in there.

Must get together soon. (once new clutch fitted in the GT4) :(

Hi Rich, Hope you're keeping well?

Jaguars claims were extremely optimistic. Experts say that in reality standard cars were about 230ish from the factory. Classic & Sportscar magazine quoted mine as over 300 in the nineties (which i struggle to believe) as even with a big valve head, race cams etc - you'd need triple webers to get over 300.

On the day, mine achieved a very healthy 279. This is with a ported & polished head, large valves, race cams but running SU's with uprated needles & trumpets. The cam timing was reverted to standard to aid driveability so she might of given a little more if the cam timing was optimised and there's obviously a degree of wear over 20 odd years to factor as well.

All good here, thanks Jason. :)

The e-type bhp claims are a little like the Ferrari ones...hmmmm!! ;) What you're seen for yours does indeed sound very healthy. I must come over for a ride sometime.

We had a lovely low-drag e-type at Brands this year for the soldiers day, and very popular it was too. Maybe bring yours along next year?

The cheap one bud, V12 roadster ;)

Nice thing it is, restored a few years back, but still retains a bit of patina to it.

When I was living in Bahrain a young Sheikh friend proudly showed me his garage, in the corner was a 1973 V12 etype coupe, it had not been touched for 15 years, all the rubbers and had perished and the fuel had set like glue in the tank. It was a right state

I just had a message from him saying he was shipping it to the UK for a full restoration.

    Pics please mate.

You'll do well on this IMO - E-Type prices are going nuts at the moment.

Silver unrestored S3 V12 Roadster at my local specialist at the moment - Sold £95k

I came across this thread this afternoon and wanted to share a pic of a car that's very special to me. A long and interesting story in itself that I won't get into but I've owned this car for over 30 yrs. Back in the late 1970's when I was introduced to E Types they were just used cars. Owned a bunch of them back then. fortunately kept this one. Never been to the UK; sure am grateful for the vehicles your country produced though!

Since we're showing off our E's, here's one from a Yank across the pond. My pops owned a nice Austin-Healey 3000 MkIII that sealed my love for Brit cars forever. Picked up my '66 FHC about 7 years ago:

Nice for wafting about with the wind in yer hair! ;) Still a reasonable turn of speed though?
    Wow... mint & very pretty.
    That's lovely. Series 1 or 1.5?
Been saying this for years. As the 2nd best looking car ever (Miura 1st), they've been too cheap for ages. Look at what's happened to DB5's.

Stunning. Personally i prefer the lines of the FHC over the roadster. Unfortunately, huge quantities of FHC's got butchered in the early 90's and converted to roadsters

You and me both - I specifically sought out the FHC as I love the lines.

You have great taste in cars! :D
