Car is looking beautiful. A 67 just sold at RM for 253K.
These XKE's (or E Types as the British call them) are sure running up in value. While you probably thought you might be underwater when you started the restoration and all its costs, no doubt you are now more than whole at the end - and have the car you want with no hidden issues to discover later, besides normal teething stuff. Looks like a great color combination and will be lots of fun to take out! I loved seeing the process. Show us the finished product please.
Great thread & restoration. Here's my FHC, which is slowly getting a refresh. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyWBx2szNIo]Jaguar E-Type on Dyno - YouTube[/ame]
Hi, Yes, original UK RHD car. Colour was "Light Blue" with Dark Blue interior. In reality, Jaguar "Light Blue" is a little darker than my car. Over the years, she's been painted a couple of times and having had the bootlid painted recently, the paintshop had to mix the paint specifically to match, as Jaguar Light Blue - was a shade darker.
Just been out for a drive in a 348 (i haven't driven one of these for about 4 years) Made me realise, how quick the E-Type is considering it's age
This kind of attention to detail in the engines is something that is truly lacking in the modern cars.
We're in the home stretch. Here are a few more photos. I'll get some better shots once we get the car out in the wild.
Done! I took delivery of the car and it looks fantastic. I agonized about the color choice but after seeing the completed car I don't think I've seen a better color on an e-type. IMO, Cotswold Blue is a color that needs to be seen in person to really be appreciated. There's a richness and depth to the color that just doesn't translate in pictures. Yes. I thought it was pretty funny to have one cat looking over the other. The lion is a bronze and weighs about 400 lbs. The look on my Rhodesian Ridgeback's face the first time he saw the lion was priceless!
Car looks beautiful. Show it, win some awards, then go out and drive it and trully enjoy it. I'm going to miss mine.
What an amazing result!! I love the colors, you did a great job!! The lion is an extremely nice touch
I saw a similar e-type at the Danville Concourse (looked like the same color combination), and it was beautiful. You picked a great color combination!
I thought it was the same beautiful e-type, but I'm no expert, and I didn't want to assume and be wrong
Does anyone have any experience with hood mounted vs. door mounted side view mirrors? I need to add mirrors and am not sure of the best way to go. I think that the hood mounted mirrors look neat and are a nice period detail, although I've not used them so don't know what they're like in the real world. A couple of pictures show the options. Appreciate any guidance. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I never had mirrors on my car and never missed them, but, 99% of the time when I drove my car, the top was down. Little more difficult changing lanes when the top was up, but no big deal. I just always liked the clean lines of the car without the side mirror(s). Curious, is one required in CA? From what I was told, no car came from the factory with mirrors, they were a dealer installed item.
