still on the fence about the whole speciale package, but will save final judgement for when i see the car in person in 2 days time... will let you all know
Would love to know if Ferrari will be making the Specaile for more than 1 year like they did for the Scuderia?
Until Ferrari starts building the 458 replacement that blows the Speciale into the weeds...and on it goes. God bless those who must always have the latest and fastest. It keeps Ferrari innovating.
IMO the 458 replacement will not blow out the Speciale as far on track performance is concerned.I think you will see a marginal advantage at best. The F430 was not any faster than the CS on the Fiorano track. The 458 did blow away the Scud because it was a clean sheet design. Since the 458 replacement will be an evolution of the 458 IMO it will not as big of a step
For all we know the 458 replacement could be a hybrid or turbocharged, which in turn could make the Speciale the last of the true Mid-V8's, which in turn could push its value sky high in time.
There you go... pics of the actual car. Still not as beautiful as the standard 458 IMO but much better than the renderings -> dec...: Ferrari 458 Speciale
Sky high? My last of the analog manual transmission front engine V12 550 Maranello should be worth a fortune any minute. Check out prices of the Serie Speciale, Serie Fiorano, CS and Scud. They command a premium over their lesser brethren, but that's it. The Speciale will be the same blue chip financial investment that any non limited production supercar Mid-V8 Ferrari turns out to be...a bad one. Wait till you see it in black, blue, or gray, triple-layer paint ... to hear it, touch it and it will be able to fascinate you, with or without stripes, because it is a Ferrari and never disappoints
Crumbs - it's a real hound alright. The front bumper with silly sticky out horsey does not work. The rear looks like a mess (as has been described very well earlier in this thread). For once, the renderings make the car look better than the real pictures. Could this be the first V8 that doesn't look great in red?!
Let's compare the rear view of the 458s with other cars: was Ferrari inspired by GM? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Same view and similar backgrounds. That's it! Wouldn't the Speciale's design influence come directly from the Italia?
Maybe I missed it, but what makes anybody think that the Speciale will be produced in a spyder format ? History with the 430 scud being a spyder perhaps ? Ferrari may be emulating the 360 CS with the 458 S. Just wondering out loud.
