    So I just learned that Brazil alter the VINs of Euro-spec cars that are imported into Brazil, so that they can reflect a model year (most Euro-spec Ferraris don't have model year VINs). I've never heard of this type of alteration - much less seen an example. Can anyone post a picture of a Euro VIN in Brazil that's been altered to reflect a model year? I would greatly appreciate it, thank you.

    From what I heard, you cannot bring "used" cars into Brazil

    I'm from Brazil and we usually import cars from US.

    And no. We are not allowed to import used cars. Only brand new or with more than 30 years old.

    Ferrari imports cars that are Euro spec, not US spec. Straight from Italy. Independent importers may bring over US spec cars with MPH on the speedos etc. But the official ones are Euro spec.

    The dealership is near my house, I may be able to take some pictures for you but only next month as I will be traveling soon. If someone here OWNS a recent Ferrari, here in Brazil, though, they may be able to help you further.

    But I wouldn't doubt what you are saying. It may be the case to comply with laws here.

    owning an exotic must motor vehicle in brazil and it has its problems ,i find it difficult to meet owners here ,its a crazy place to be.i wonder how many F.CHAT menbers in brazil own farraris,please send me a p/m

    Actually Ferrari (Via Italia) import their cars with an US Specification, but with km/h speedometer. It has always been this way since the 360.

    I had different information. But I guess you're right.

    Someone with connections inside told me an interesting story the other day.

    He said at Ferrari, the best Engine blocks go to the Challenge cars, then the next best go to the Euro cars, then the next best go to the US cars, then whatever's left is sent to South America and other parts of the world.

    I'm inclined to believe him.
