Mark your calendars NOW........ On Saturday, October 19th, the Ferrari Club of America, Florida Region, will once again 'take to the track' for a FULL day of MADNESS!!! We are running from 9am to 9pm (12 hours!)......so, there will be plenty of track time, and your chance to run under the lights!! It will be held at Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) Open to all FCA members Registration and more information coming soon..................
Might just have to venture out of the mountains for this event - the only question Fred, and this is not a criticism, is why not in November when it is cooler? After 45 years in the Keys sun, I try to miss the hot times of the year - anyway, already talked to Ronnie about track support and shipping so guess I will see you there - do we need track inspection before track day?
We tried for November, as well as alternate dates, but this was the ONLY date available other than Thanksgiving. We wanted to make sure MM was a reality, so we are making the best of what was available. Yes! Tech inspections are manditory. We are offering them at FFL the weekend prior during cars&coffee. We have also implemented a beginners driving school course for FCA members, so anyone wanting to learn the basics of tracking a car now has a chance to do so (see other post here in Florida section). Looking forward to seeing ya'll there!!!
Yes, but the sooner the tech inspection is done, the sooner you get onto the track. We are making it easy and enjoyable by FFL offering to do so early, with breakfast as well as an opportunity for drivers ed.
Ferrari only, or can an FCA member bring something else? My 355 Challenge is still in TX and while I dearly love my 575 but the GT3 is more at home on the track.
Regardless of car, everyone must be an FCA member to participate. Yes, we will have a 'mixed marque' run group for those that choose to run something other than a Ferrari.
So are the groups based on marquee or skill level/experience? What options would a licensed club racer have?
Both. We have 2 Ferrari run groups: Touring and a more advanced group. And, then we have the mixed marque group. The Touring group is passing only on straights and point by. It is more of a beginner to intermediate. The more advanced group is for those comfortable with a higher level of skill. Neither is a race. There is no timing and no prizes, other than smiles and a good time. The nice thing is that everyone can go at their own pace, and hopefully improve their driving skills.
We are just finalizing the registration forms...... Thanks to the folks at Ferrari of Ft Lauderdale for their generous support, we are able to offer an early bird regiatration fee of only $350 for the entire day (all inclusive!), including track time, drinks, lunch, and dinner. Increadible value!
Will the mixed marque run group be TOURING ONLY or will you have both a mixed marque Touring AND a mixed marque advanced group, as well? Cheers
Mixed marque is Touring only. This is a Ferrari event, whereby the mixed marque group was created for the benefit of club members that want to track something other than a Ferrari.
Here is the registration form....... Please print, complete, and submit as instructed on the form. Any questions, please let me know! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Darn Fred, can't make it after all - did not realize that is the same weekend as the FSU Clemson game @ Clemson. I have box seats and am staying at a great Ferrari owner's house outside Clemson. Two of my kids went to FSU and 1 to Clemson so its a big deal up this way. I will definitely see u at Toys for Tots - congratulations on the great job you ar doing as president John E
Hey John, huge BUMMER that you can't make it. And, thank you for the kind words. Looking forward to seeing you soon!!
Amazing deal...... Full day of track time, lunch, dinner, etc, etc..... only 350 bucks!! One of the things that I am focused on, is to get members the best value and have the most FUN!! To that end, we changed the format of MM from two days to one day. Not many people did the second day anyways, and that change saved the club an extreme amount of money in overhead to put on this event. That savings allows us to put on a full day track event (12 hours!) at an amazing price for the members, and provides some cushion for the club for other great things instead of a potential financial drain on the club. In addition, we implemented a complimentary driving school for members that want to learn the basics of tracking a car. (see other thread here in the FL section) Certainly, there are plenty of people who already know more than we could ever teach them. However, for anyone that wants to learn, this is a fantastic way to do so. We are hoping that people that may not otherwise feel comfortable tracking their car because of never doing so, can have the opportunity to learn without being at the track with other people whizzing by them. Learning the basics is the first step.
