I got a text from him Saturday morning stating simply that he and the family are ok. I'm sure he is busy helping out where possible.

Throughout this time of duress, these updates from each of you who have been affected are much appreciated and respected. Some really hairball situations continue to present themselves, so, try your best to stay out of harm's way.

Thanks for the update folks. If anyone hears of things Dave/Kris need please let us know.

John -- Do you need help? If you need to move the F-car down south during your clean up activities, let me know. I have a spot in my garage you can use.

I managed to make it to town via an alternate route out of the mountains. A police road block going home the same way means I will have to present proof of residence. So my 30 minute commute is now an hour. I stopped by the shop today and Jenni is holding down the fort. She spoke with her mom and they are still at home, but thanks to neighborhood police, who Dave is helping check on all the neighbors, have been able to somehow get out and re-provision and then go back in. No one else is being allowed to go back if they chose to come out. So they've got gas for the generator and they're cooking for the neighbors. All is well, but if your car is in the shop, give Jenni a break. She's trying to hold things down without any help or reliable phone contact with Dave and her mom. Her parents are more important than your car. Actually, it's kinda quiet over there. So knowing Jenni, she'll be cranking through work like mad without all the interuptions from visitors seeking advice from Dave.

I don't think anyone's giving her grief...yet. There's a shop full of cars though and I know how some of us can be. ;)

Thank you everyone for the kind words and thoughts. My parents are safe and out of the valley as of today. Back to reality and consuming Dave's morning, catching him up on all the phone calls and updating him on the business end. The stories are quite amazing how the community pulled together in the valley after being stranded for a week without power, phones or roads. Their house is damage free, thankfully! But much damage to the valley near the river and a couple homes washed away just down the road from them, not to mention the poor town of Lyons.

I cant explain how impressed I am with the efforts from all their neighbors. The word "greed" did not even exist. My mom cooked up mass lunches and dinners for the Nation Guards and fellow neighbors. And my dad drove up the mountain side to check on the elder neighbors, making runs to Longmont with a shopping list.. fuel, food, diapers,
meds...ect. If you know Dave, you know he does not do well so well shopping. Imagine that! I am so proud of my parents for holding stong through this disaster. My heros!
Thank you again for the thoughts. Now back to work!
Futureman, we can still go flying if you trust me:) we got this! The silence at the shop for the last few days was golden.

All safe, thanks for all the thoughts and concerns. What the media is showing isnt 1/10 of how bad it actually is. The town of Lyons is in shambles, Pinewood is being abandoned until spring as soon as the Guard cuts a road back to them from our valley for final evac. Hwy 36 to Estes no longer exists for great distances. Two of our valley are suspected to have been killed but no bodies have yet been found. Scott, your friends house is just below our friend Barry..... he went back to get some things out, all to find the entire structure was completely missing. We suspect the same overseas shipping container that tore another house in half just upstream a 1/3 mile by our house, took out his house on the way by. All 4 dams in Pinewwod were destroyed and sent a terrible wall of water down hill our way.

I had checked on a 90 yr old couple living alone above us and found Lucy had run out of heart meds and oxygen. This forced us to load up the Jeep and make a trail over the top of the mountain to get to the town's evac point and gather what was needed. Being as we were the first to get to town from out lying areas, we were able to talk the Sheriff into giving a small group of 4 of us passes to get back into town with food, meds and fuel.

For a week we were the only supply chain to our whole valley with one run a day out and back. After a few days we got past the point of everyones "needs" and got started on the list of "wants". By the time the first Blackhawks and Chinooks made it in we were completely out of Magarita Mix and were dangerously low on Single Malt.... the lady DR near lost it when that was the answer as to what else "we needed to survive", she had been worked ragged.

It is a true honor to see a whole community pull together as we witnessed. Strangers were no longer and friends made sure no one was lacking or needing. Freezers of those we got evac'ed, fed those that were short. It was an incredible inspiration to see unfold and be a part of. Keegan is still re-reading his travel brochure to see where this was listed.... he kept asking neighbors "what does one wear to a natural disaster, this is my first!" We have permentally changed that boy for life.

A few more days and we will be back working again......... Hopefully!

It sounds like several members and very possibly many more are willing to do (donation) something to help Dave and his community. If someone could arrange a place for donations to be sent (paypal or mail), I know I would give. This is a worthwhile cause in any case, and Dave is a valued and generous (with his time and knowledge) member of our community.

Please tell me where to send my $500.

How is this thread not a *sticky*?
