I do this for a living on Ferrari comp cars..
which is to say-in lay terms-clearances are more criticak than in street cars.
The width of berth for error-slop-is MUCH greater in street cars..
that said, most of the stuff being said is incorrect, and frankly just plain wrong...
for what reasons... is not germain to obtaining what it is you require, desire, and PAID FOR...

NOS cams have NOT been available for 25 years, so there...
re-grinding, and re-welding the lobes has been a common-and largely unsuccessful-remedial process for the interm time period.
New, reproduction, gundrilled blanks, ground on a Landis CNC camshaft manufacturing,
machine are available in both europe, and here in the US.
NOT cheap, and inspection of final product includes an RC hardness test on the heels of the basecircles...60-62, no more, no less.

Installed valve/spring height is a "god reference"
One makes all neccessary repolacement parts as is required inorder to maintain a midrange target dimension whilst maintaining these boundary dimensions...

Improper seat manufacture from genericly available blanks, out of box new valves, as opposed to made from s-steel "blanks", and the loss of original cam's base circle diameter ALL contribute to your conditions here...
DINO/four cam 275s....are the ONLY cars to have the large base circle cams, and the failure rate in valvetrain components is well documented over the last 40 years....
the accelleration/decelleration speeds9inertial momentum) and the lack of oil supply are principle component factors in these failure rates... in my expoerience.
Thus, altered cams tend to exacerbate an already unsure footing...

Personally, I would move on-despite expenses involved-and get the job done properly, AND TO SPECIFICATION-poeriod....
    god luck, and,
    FWIW...

Thanks Guys for all the suggestions, point noted about the cams and I have asked the "specialist" to provide new Cams FOC due to the considerable problems and costs I have incurred. My heads have gone back to the "specialist" Monday, just found out he is on holiday for a week so further delays. I have detailed pictures, measurements and a technical report that refers to the Ferrari specifications on these heads now if I need to take the matter any further.

By way of a follow up I am being told I have to buy cams from the seller as well now otherwise he will not proceed with putting right the problems. Run out of ideas now and do not want to risk more money with this company. Unfortunately time to go legal.

as long as you buy the cams from them right?
At the end of all this will you end up with a one off set of Dino heads or, will the heads and, cams be brought back to standard specs

I am hoping to receive back two heads ready to fit to standard Ferrari spec with 38.65mm installed spring height. Then I can buy new cams from wherever but I don't want to send anymore money to them as so far the products have not been good
