    OMFG. I did it. I got the engine wet! Real wet.

    Sprayed it down with dish soap and water. Let it soak and then.....gasp....HOSED IT!

    I am certain the timing belts will melt, the valve guides will fall out and the headers will crack. The rest will simply melt away to nothing.

    My car is worthless now....barely worth scrap metal prices...but the engine bay is purdy :)

    ....and yea, it started and ran just fine. Took the wife out to lunch and back....and nothing fell off!

    Only one CEL code: P1666

    Looked it up online = "WTF are you doing get the engine bay wet?" I reset it and all seems fine.

    :)

    <sarcastic grin goes here>

    I read somewhere on the Internet that you should only use bottled water to clean your engine. If bottled water is not available, you can use water from a hose, but only if it is filtered through both a reverse osmosis and DI tank first. If you use straight tap water, your warranty will be voided. Truth? :}

    [Edit] If you are Catholic, you can also substitute Holy Water for any of the above.

    How funny. I just finished my first wash a couple of hours ago and was very careful not to deluge the engine cover/bay with water. Guess I'll just act normal next time.

    I use only San Pellegrino for the engine bay or anywhere else on the car. Italian mineral water all the way.

    on a serious note, any recommendations for a dressing to be used on the plastic engine parts to keep them looking pretty but not greasy?

    Spot-on. But Italian only

    Holy water from Vatican City. You never know what those locals put in their cisterns.

    preferred.

    And for those that care, the Japanese have been forced to limit their whale kill due to Greenpeace efforts, so look for your engine & gear box oil prices to go up.

    Please return your keys to the nearest Ferrari dealership at your earliest opportunity. Your recklessenss has proven that you do not deserve ownership. You are allowed, under no certain terms, to get a Ferrari wet, let alone to purposefully flood the engine with hose water.

    Any updates? Has the engine melted already?

    By the way - a guy asked me once how the hell will I clean my engine, when it isn't supposed to be moisted. And I just asked him - so what the hell do you think the rain does then, keeping in mind, that the bonnet is full of holes? Couldn't get a proper answer from him lol

    Car is ruined, probably will never run again. It's best to get rid of it ASAP for as cheap as possible so you don't have to deal with it. I will trade you my E46 M3 for it straight up, that's a great deal :) Let me know when you want to do that. ;)

    Obviously, Watson has suffered a "mental break". I think it's unreasonable to expect him to post a coherent reply. We must pray for him while making plans to protect his poor, defenseless 355. Perhaps there's a government mental health department that will protect his 355 from him.
