Ferrari rules out sacking Stefano Domenicali | Ferrari | Formula 1 news, live F1 | ESPN F1
What I see there is also a warning to Domenicalli: "OK, dude, you say that so far you just have been building a team, but now it´s time to start getting some results from it".
Meh. He's been instrumental in putting together possibly the best driver lineup of all time so he is good in my book for now. They just got Allison and others. He's trying his hardest.
Its a shot across the bow for Domenicali... time is now to start making things happen - you have all that you want - drivers, technical side, all the money you need... make it happen... or else. Domenicali has managed him self into a one way street - with an exit sign getting brighter by the day. Unless they win next year he's out. at Ferrari - the more they say you are good to go, the worse it actually is.... its like living in the bizarro world.
What about if they win the title in one ( or both!) of those years? They've got a better chance than most after all. Cheers, Ian
I'm not sure I understand how they have a better chance? its not like Mercedes Red bull etc. are not also working on the turbo engines....& chassis..
Merc, The Cans, and even the boys from Woking still comprise less than half the field, so I'd say, "yeah, they've got a better chance than most". Seriously, would anyone put Ferrari lower than top 3 next season?..... There's much talk of a "shakeup" and "the field being all mixed up" etc. - I don't see it - Unless one of 'em does some kind of killer powertrain that dominates the others I'm pretty sure the status quo will pretty much stay the same. Cheers, Ian
Next year will determine his future. He needs to secure at least the wcc or wdc or he'll be removed before 2015.
This will all depend on the calls/decisions on the pit-wall during the races and the results. That being said LdM says Stefano would be missed if fired. LDM ego may prevent his firing. His statement on Allison speaking Italian also indicates an "Italian" centered thinking still, unlike the MS era.
That's the problem. Too many changes at once is dangerous so keeping him on may be the smart move but I'm a bit disappointed.
It has taken a few years and driver changes for things to gel. Even then they are unwilling to go to far with this platform vs next year in terms of taking a title.
That kind of vote of confidence is usually good for another season, tops. It is only renewed with victory.
I'm not crazy about this. I think, like Massa, Domenicali is a nice guy, competent enough but has overstayed his welcome.
