Why would he want to go from one team with a car that's not quite quick enough to another team with a car that's no where near quick enough? I think this was just a ploy to get Perez motivated. I wouldn't be totally shocked if Massa ended up there, though. Perez is looking more and more like a mistake.

Yep - I'd get rid of him if I was in charge at McLaren.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Vettel has the best car and has had it for a long time now. FA almost beat him twice during this time. It stands to reason that Alonso is doing more with less. Most people rate Alonso slightly above Vettel and pretty much everyone else for good reason. Dislike him all you want but there is no one better than Alonso right now.

    Really? [No smiley?...]

Wow, some of you guys are harsh!..... ;)

Wasn't that long ago that he was the next Michael of course. Ferrari were the *dumbest* team in the history of man as they didn't hire him.....

He lands a (generally) decent seat, which this year sucks, goes more or less as well as JB, and you want to fire his ass!?

Dayum! Give the kid a chance. :)

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Nicely put.

However, I still think if they can give Ice a car that he agrees with, he's ultimately the quicker of the two though.

I'm just hoping it doesn't get "political" - If they let 'em race, on equal terms, it could be *epic*......

    Salivating indeed. ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

Not necessarily :D. Look at how many DNFs Vettel had, vs Alonso's. But they're certainly close. Vettel is the better qualifier, and that gives him an advantage on race day. But Vettel is still quite young, and gaining experience every year. Alonso's F1 time is starting to run out, so the opposite of Vettel.

Perez might or might not have been a mistake, depending what he was hired for. He's usually pretty close to Button both in qualifying and race results, therefore a good #2 driver... but their problem is cars are crap this season. If McLaren expected Perez to become their #1 driver (like Vettel with RB), THEN it probably was a mistake. But there's only one way to find out, and the risk McLaren took hasn't paid off yet. I wouldn't discount Perez until he gets a better car, and see what he can do with it. Have a great weekend folks.

    Going for irony are you?

    Non political at Ferrari?

About the same time they paint the cars green and run ford engines.
    ;)

There may or may not be championships but there will be drama.

"This is one of the reasons we watch!".....

It should be a whole lot of fun whichever way it goes.

    Cheers,

PS - Did you get a VPN working for FP? Back in the country yet? As long as I don't sleep thru the alarm (again) should be watching Sky in the AM.

    No joy there.
I have arranged to see it on local TV. There maybe a number of "what just happened" posts since it won't be an English broadcast though.

    :(

Ahh, "no worries".... At least you can watch it live! More than many of the poor people here in the "leader of the civilized world!"..... ;)

I "get" the Americas Cup, but being usurped for (not even live!) soccer does suck the big one.

I'll do my best to provide commentary as appropriate. ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Thanks.

    I haven't checked but what's CNBC running during Q?
Infomercial or umpteenth repeat of an American Scams?

ask anybody who races - alonso is the best in the field at the moment. does more with less - always the mark of the truly great. personally i have never liked him, but i cannot deny his ability. nor should bill in atlanta. vettel has not yet proven his capability in inferior machinery. the most valuable person at ferrari is alonso, the most valuable person at red bull is newey

I think it's bluff. Drama from Mclaren. Just to divert attention from their crap car.

Ldm would love for FA to jump open up seat for the hulk . Next year is going to be for the reds watching kimi and the FA its all on Alonso if gets out run look out . Ldm has watched alonso for years and knows all the stories he signed fa for the banks money thats all if that bank was there he would have studied the new guys for two more years and than moved but when a guy got that kind of money to buy the seat you sell he did not for see soda cans getting this strong . So if alonso whats to jump Ldm going to tell enjoy the cool breeze . I personally think ldm is a clown lawyer hack but he would be right in this case

That'd be fine,... except he'll take out someone else or an entire family in the process.

Vettel has a better car. The Redbull has been the class of the field for the last three years whereas the Ferrari has been second and in some years third best. Despite that, Vettel almost got beaten to the title twice by Alonso with a slower car. DNFs or no, Alonso seems to make the most of his package while all Vettel has to do make a good start, don't wreck and have the car hold together. Great for him but not exactly proof that he's the best there is on the grid.
