Fueling 355

Every time I fuel my 355 the pump stops as if the gas tank is full. However, the fuel gauge is always about less than a 1/4 from being totally full. If I bump it after auto stop, I get it to almost full however not all the way up there. The tank appears full (it "spits" fuel). My other Fcar does the same, however I thought it did this because it was older?? Do you guys have trouble at the pump?

 

MY 348 same thing. My Spider was worse. Just go slow and take your time. It will eventually fill up. However, the electronic gas guage is not exactly responsive. Your gas tank has some weird bends and crevices.

 

Less fuel = less weight = faster acceleration + better braking + better handling + better fuel economy.

(Not to mention, there's a reason planes dump their fuel before attempting risky landing. Less fuel = reduced fire risks.)

 

Try turning the pump head parallel to the ground. Cures the problem for me.

The reason an aircraft dumps fuel is actually for the first reason you gave. Weight. Larger aircraft have structural maximum landing weights that are less (often substantially) than the maximum takeoff weight. Therefore, if you depart and must make an unexpected return to the airport, you've probably not burned off enough fuel to get below the maximum landing weight, so you dump it. And, like in a Ferrari, less weight is also easier to get stopped.

No, but then again, I changed all the fuel hoses on the last major to prevent such.
