He seems a bit immature, Ian. A bit like Pastor Maldonado. Quick, but tends to crash any time he tries to pass anyone.
Oh, don't get me wrong - I couldn't agree more. One of the reasons I pooh-poohed those clamoring for the Scuderia to hire him after a couple of decent runs..... The Phil haters want to put *anyone* in the car after a solitary decent showing - Witness the love for Bottas right now! He's not *close* to being a Ferrari driver (yet anyway) IMO. The Rev was flavor of the month a while back too!..... Scotalian was another. Give 'em a season or two and *if* they dominate their 'mate, then maybe show a little interest. Cheers, Ian
-If Alonso is the best why is he being out qualified by the thoroughly average Massa ? -If Newey is the most valuable person at RB why isn't Webber # 2 in the WDC for 4 years running ? No doubt, Alonso/vettel/Hamilton are the top in the sport today...and until they are in equal equipment we will never know who is the best (even then certain equipment will favor one driver over the other etc). But to dismiss Vettel because he is in a great car and Alonso isn't does not give due to Vettels ability. The guy has a strategy..put the car on pole (which Webber cant do), have a consistent great start (ditto x10) and then drive away. It is easy to say Alonso is better because he "outdrives" the car, but lets face it, he should qualify better (or at least out qualify his sorry ass teammate). Bill
FA is the odd man out he got turn down by soda cans Mercedes is going to cut its budget. Lotus got no money Ross is going to rebuild Williams with Mercedes motor and low interest loan from andy warhol . Ldm is to play hard ball next year wuth him that leaves McLaren .f1 is in a down hill slide it's going to pre Schumacher days two to three guys making big cash . Hell Vettel makes half of FA money .like I said if he jumps ldm won't mind in the least
Alonso got turned down by Red Bull? - That's funny because as I hear it, Red Bull never even discussed the possibility of having Alonso in their team! They spoke with Alonso's management about another driver on their books but it was never about Alonso! Christian Horner tried desperately to keep the Alonso rumour running for as long as possible in a desperate bid to destabilise Ferrari and Alonso but it didn't work. McLaren are now trying the same trick with Alonso but he's now saying he has no interest in going back to McLaren at all and in fact is looking to extend his Ferrari contract beyond 2016: Fernando Alonso seeks contract extension with Ferrari beyond 2016 | Ferrari News | Formula 1 Teams | Sky Sports
It's 8 to 5, Alonso this year, 18 to 2 last year in qualifiying vs Massa. Last year Webber outqualified Vettel 8 times. Even Berger outqualified Senna occasionally, do you think that means he was better than him too? Nobdy is discounting anyone's abilty but Vettel has it pretty easy in comparison to the rest of the other guys. No one else in field can qualifiy the Ferrari any better than Alonso has been since 2010.
