Why not buy a second 14" set and refurbish these into as new condition. The original wheels are only original once...

Endless polishing combined with that single tailpipe being right below. It's only original once though

NJB Automotive in Ohio refinished a set of QV wheels for me *properly*. I would contact them for more info. I know they have done Speedline wheels and re-done the lettering as well.

I live in England and I have recently purchased a 1976 308 GTB (Vetroresina), and I have a question about fuel. I suppose it's more for UK drivers, but interesting to hear from drivers with similar engined cars from around the world.

The documentation that came with the car shows no evidence of any major engine work. Which leads me to think the car has not had any valve seat work, and is as it originally left the factory, back in 1976, ready for leaded fuel. Which is a problem.

I'd like to here from other owners on how they tackle this problem. I'm guessing that most owners use a fuel addative, any experience or info on the best product would be a great help. Any horror stories on valve seats burning/wearing out also welcome.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Rick. All 308 had harden valve seats and are low compression. You should have no problems with standard unleaded. I have owned my 308gt4 77 yr model for 20 yrs and have had no problems. I have had my heads off in the past and there was no wear in the valve seats. Just service and do the valve shims as per service recommend and enjoy.

Standard unleaded here too, no additives.....fear the alcohol content far more, it'll cause rubber damage.

    Welcome!

    Hello Rick,

Congratulations on your purchase. May I ask the chassis number please? I enclose the following sevice bulletin from the factory which will answer your question.

However I would be concerned somewhat if the car still has the original exhaust valves. Do a search on the forum to see the issues with those original valves.

    Regards,

    Carl.

So, if I understand well, their official position is: "Our cars, at least the ones on the list below, can run on normal unleaded fuel (95) without any problem. Well, as long as you don't actually use your car the way it was meant to..."

Not sure I'm so comfortable with this...

Nice find on the service bulletin. I've always run 94 AKI (approx 98 RON) following the Euro 308 manual's suggestion, but always figured 91 AKI would be fine, given the somewhat low-ish compression.

No, Ferrari never said this. They said you can run on unleaded fuel. No mention was made of "Normal unleaded fuel 95."

That's a bit dangerous, why would you run 91 in an engine not designed for it? A USA specification car with a different ignition curve over its European counterpart sure, but the inference is your car is a Euro (Since you have the book?).

My car is a Euro, and I do run 94+ AKI (98+ RON). However, in some parts of the USA it's difficult to find anything above 91 AKI, and I have heard of plenty of people running it without issue. That was all I really meant, I certainly do not encourage running lower octane than the factory recommendation.

I have a question about wheels. Campagnolo or Cromodora????????????
I have a 1976 308 GTB (glass), it has 16" wheels at the moment. I want to replace the wheels to what would have been fitted originally. Thanks to the Fchat community I have gathered that I am looking for 7 1/2 x 14 wheels. My current research has show both manufacturers, Campagnolo and Cromodora were fitted in the 70's. Please advise what manufacturer would be correct for a 1976. Also, are there any different styles of 14 wheel, made by the same manufacturer? What style should I be looking for? Thanks
