Does anybody have a source for 5mm and 16mm green fuel hoses? I ordered weeks ago with PR Products, but they still haven`t proceed with my order... no idea what`s going on there....
5mm ID, 9mm OD Superformance, pn FER09001 FERRARI HOSES for FERRARI RESTORATIONS T. RUTLANDS ICP Ferrari Parts Cavis Blue/Green Fuel Hose: 5x9 / 5mm ID: #CAV5x9 $9.95 per foot 7x12 / 7mm ID: #CAV7x12 $12.95 per foot 10x15 / 10mm ID: #CAV10x15 $14.95 per foot 16x23 / 16mm ID: #CAV16x23 $16.95 per foot Fuel line, Cavis original style, 5mm/9mm size - E0177XE etc, etc.
thanks Ron but the main problem seems to be 16mm... the correct outside diameter is 20mm (so 16x20mm). Only PR Products seems to have the correct one, but they don`t answer e-mails or phone calls at the moment....
What is the ID/OD of the fuel line between the carbs? I know it was originally Cavis green, but the Spare Parts Catalog TAV-8 doesn't give a size, just FIAT 1/90531/80 Qty=2
Matthias, Something to consider if you can't find what you are looking for is to use clear hose and then dye it. There are several products that come to mind like Dylon and RIT dye which are used specifically to dye synthetics. All you need is the dye and some hot water. The colour you get can be controlled by immersion time in the solution. I played with RC model cars in a previous life and this technique was commonplace to colour nylon parts. As an aside, you can also use this method if you want to make yourself some reasonably priced yellow nylock nuts for places like the suspension. The only caveat is that you would need to start with nuts that have a white insert so that they dye properly. Best Regards, Paul
Hello Paul, that sounds interesting... I might test it, if I go nowhere with finding the correct ones... Many thanks. Regards Matthias
Dylon I can get easly here in Germany, also clear petrol tubes in the correct size, I will try at the end of the week.... Would you dye the complete hose, also the inside?
Jon: You got this to work? I tried the same stuff (albeit on brake fluid compatible hose), and it the tubing did not change color. Is the hose you used brake fluid compatible clear hose? As you many know, Miura's used Cavis green hose for the brake and clutch in a very visible location. I am trying to avoid using Cavis because it sweats brake fluid for a long time, causing paint damage, etc. BTW, I searched for clear hose in Mcmaster and didn't find much.
I have green hoses on my race Stratos restored a couple of years ago. Must be current production hose. I'll post a pic later and you can see if it is the correct green you are looking for.
Here is a pic of my hose. I'll try and find out the source if anyone is interested. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Matthias, instead of original I recommend to use a hose made for boats- for safety! POLYOIL - HYDRO'K - HYDRO'ECO - BOAT FUEL HOSE ISO 7840 A1 - Trelleborg Rubber Industrial Hose http://www.trelleborg.com/upload/Trelleborg_Industrial_hose/datasheets/GB_BOATFUELHOSEISO7840A1.pdf I use these in my cars, very good for Dino where it's very hot around the engine. Ciao/ Bjorn
Did anyone ever inventory all the necessary Cavis hose sizes and lengths for the US Dino and the differences for Euro-spec Dinos?
Paul gave me that trick and I have used it with RIT dye on white nylock nuts which i had yellow passivated and they came out great….also on hoses..one of the best tips yet! Good luck & Thanks
I was happy with my textile-covered hose. Now I have a problem. Does Superformance, others sell a set? I hope someone says yes to Rynosharks's query. Andres
Newco now sells the green hose in most all of the sizes used on Ferraris. It is not just dyed hose. I have used it and was very pleased with the color and quality of the hose: Newco Products - Newco Cavis Green Style Hose Brian Brown Patrick Ottis Co.
On the "CAVIS BENZ 5 x 9" fuel overflow line on the firewall, noted in TAV 7 #14 (part 607E-821179), there appears to be a one way check valve and another rubber hose extension. This isn't in the parts book and I'm curious as to what this is, and whether it appears on other Dinos. It doesn't make sense to me what this would be doing here as I believe this hose is open to the air on the bottom and is just a drain in the event fuel is filled too high. Any ideas? Thanks Matthias. I wonder why this would have been added! I'll remove it and look for any part numbers for clues. Perhaps somewhere in the huge amount of service history on my car I can find when it was inserted.
I've tried this and on 4 types of fuel line clear tubing and 3 will take the color but loose much of its clarity. Is this your experience too and does it clear up when fuel flows? Thank you Both Euro and USA only had a cross tank vent line there. I'm using the German Rauclair-E and it has started to loose its clarity after 2500 miles
