Still not sure that it was actually the culprit, but I think if someone took the time to research where the proper connections SHOULD be made instead of just tapping into whatever live connection they found, it would probably work just fine.

I removed 70 lbs of that stuff from my car and advertised it on craigs and ebay - no takers. I think I might just donate it to some poor audiophile.

Perhaps my Toyota pick-up will be getting a sound system upgrade then...

You can get some good money for the amps on eBay. Not so much for the receiver and minimal for the speakers. My same 150 watt Alpine amp sold for $275 and Pioneer receiver currently is at $165 bid and I am expecting to get $200.00.

Thanks Vas, maybe I'll go that route instead. Hate to waste all of the custom cabinetry. Someone did an awfully nice job of making this fit into a F355.

And it would definitely sound better (and undoubtedly fit better) in a 1982 Cutlass Supreme!

There was custom box for the subwoofer that fit behind the seats and another that was for the amp in the luggage compartment. I am planning on removing the subwoofer driver from the sub box and selling that as-is on eBay and tossing the box since it is nothing special like your speaker enclosure.
