As for traveling east, well, some know I have a house in La Quinta (for now) and i have always wanted to do a driving event to it. You are halfway there, so be careful what you wish for. ;)[/QUOTE]

It might be interesting to work a local drive up to the Idyllwild area into the work day. Well, keep us in the loop and should there be a desire to have something out this way, you can have your wife call my wife and work out the parameters of acceptable conduct...

I still may be a sucker for volunteering my house in Sherman Oaks for something next Spring or Summer. I'll have to gauge my wife's mood as well or send her out of town for the day.

Anyone here planning to join in on the RUSH screening being discussed on the Southern California section? It's looking like early October in Pasadena.

My driveway could hold about 6 - 8 cars being worked on with room for several more in the alley area for parking. I'll need to finish my outdoor BBQ kitchen that I've been working on as well as my game room/bar before I can make the final commitment. Gives me something to work on over the next several months.

Thanks again to all for all the great advice during the 348/255 Brothers Picnic. Today I re-routed the brake cable that wasn't routed properly. I also found the squeak that was bugging me since getting my car back from the shop. It turned out that the air intake tube mounts for the left and right side were missing the nuts and were loose (Refer to pic). Thus causing the squeaking. I bought some new nuts and tightened them down and no squeak.

I also found the transmission access panel (one of the smaller ones) was still having a slight leak. I tightened them down a bit more (didn't torque them fully previously sice I didn't want to strip anything). I found one of the nuts wouldn't tighten and is where the leak is occurring. Any advice on how to resolve this.

The other issue we were trying to diagnose during Stoogie day was the vibration from the drivers seat when idling which appeared to be a miss on the engine. I checked the spark-plug cables and made sure the sensor connections (that I can see) were tight. I hear a weird tapping sound coming from bank 1-4 and appears to be the bank with the miss. Don't feel it so much when moving. Not sure if this is something to worry about right away. Please refer to video below:

Weird sound. I'd have to hear it in person, but I wonder if there is an exhaust leak Somewhere. On our 348's there is a tendancy for the 4 and 8 cylinder EGR connections to leak. Ours are screwed into the heads; 355's are welded into the headers. Do you have an engine stethiscope?

The shop mentioned that the flange (part # 157417) from the cats to the tubi exhaust was using 3rd party connector and they couldn't get them positioned well so they put in some epoxy around the joint. I haven't had an issue with this prior to the last repair. I plan on changing these to the Ferrari part to get things back to stock. No sure if the issue can be this being after the cats and both sides being the same layout.

I can check at Harbour Freight for the stethiscope.

Maybe if you can find someone with a smoke machine to see exactly where its coming from, they work wonders. Wish I had one of those for sure

I just bought one of the Harbor Freight stethoscopes yesterday and it works pretty good. Not bad for $70.

I did a 240 mile drive with the 'Just Drive It' group today. The F355 behaved pretty well. Pulled strong. Still has the strange vibration I feel from the drivers seat, but the car sounded better on the way home. I did an ECU reset and put in some fuel injector cleaner prior to the drive. There is still something strange that I will need to troubleshoot.

GTO-Joe... thanks for the feedback on the Harbor Freight stethoscope.

Damn, I'm a few days late and a few bucks short! I was thinking this morning that it was about time for another Stooge get together...and I missed it.

Keep me posted on the next potential date... nothing really to do on my car just yet, but I do have a very minor leak at the radial seal at the TOB which I was going to wait until the clutch needed addressing. Not sure if I need a computer to reset the F1 clutch though.

Vince, did you ever tackle repainting the wheels on your car?

What stethoscope at Harbor Freight is $70? I have their $3.99 el cheapo and they have an electronic one for about $24. What do you get for $70? I don't see it on their web site.

Can someone who was at the picnic/stooge fest do me a favor and send a PM to tifosi12 stating that they have seen my car? I want to have access to the elusive "Owners" area of FChat and I need to have 3 members vouch that I actually have one.

    Thanks

I like the Harbour Freight digital stethoscopefor $36.99. I can connect my phone or video recorder to the headphone output and record the video of where I am touching the probe with more specific audio. They are having a big sale end of this week, so hopefully it will be even cheaper.

Actually it is the video inspection camera. It was something I have wanted to get to do internal engine inspections. I have the electronic one mentioned for sound inspection as well and that one I have used and works well also for tracking down the problems. Hard to beat their prices for things that are not used hard or often. I kind of got tired of the cost for Snap On tools when I am not using them that often.

Anyone recall from the party who it was that had the protective film on their windshield? I'd like to check it to that while mine is still new and without chips.

As I recall, Jeff has the film on the front of the car and mirrors but not the windscreen. I may be mistaken about that.

Also, I seem to have ended up with an extra red handled bladed screw driver. Let me know who left it and I can make sure it gets back to you.

The issues with my F355 are almost resolved. Transmission inspection cover bolt was spun and needed to be replaced. Other 3 bolts were replaced as well. Bypass valve appeared to have been dropped (or something) during last engine out service for camshaft seal replacement and diaphram was damaged. It was replaced with a used one. The exhaust pipe fitment to the cat was loose on passenger side and causing allot of leakage. The car should be back in action by Monday. In the mean-time I can play with my new toy... a 2014 Scion FR-S.

Craig is correct, I have the protective film on the windshield of my 348 and on my Maserati, although the Maserati one needs to be redone in the near future as the daily use of the car wears it much faster.
PM me if you need anything answered, happy to help.
