Still gets "Sorry, that page was not found." I tried erasing parts of the URL off the end, but still no luck. A lighting upgrade is on my to-do list!
Umpffff... Sorry again. It seems that the system is erasing the correct address... Type https: before the address //picasaweb.google.com/antonio.regidor/FerrariDetails?authuser=0&feat=directlink Lets try again... This is the definitive way to have a brilliant dash at night, trust me guys! Spend some seconds to enter on the link to see the shot of the dash at night... Simply awesome!!! Cheers
This is incredible... The link It doesn't work at all!!! Last try with another photo server: http://s40.beta.photobucket.com/user/aregidor/library/Ferrari%20details And yes Wazza, this mod work with any model -GT4, 308, 328-. If the link doesn't work -again!-, send to me a PM with your email and I will send a message to you with the shots. Sorry but isn't my fault...
Heat? No heat compared with an incandescent bulb. And the electric consumption is very low, in benefit of the wires of the electric circuit.
Yup, heat. I know the LED doesn't emit much heat at all, but I've often seen integrated heatsinks in the wiring for LED conversion bulbs. Was just curious - thanks.
I've been working on getting the dash fitted with LEDs. I followed most of Chairpilot and Magnum's tutorial/pdf docs. The GT4 instrument cluster is slightly different and requires a different amount of the LED bulbs. I've been successful in improving the small gauges. My biggest problem so far has been the big gauges. I bought all the bulbs Magnum suggests: 6 chip LEDs and 8 chip LEDs. I am getting nowhere NEAR the improvements I THINK I should be getting, even compared to Magnum's 'inferior' 6 chip setup (Although, I am seeing better illumination with the 6 chip.) A lot of 'dead spots' and the beam is hardly passing the numbers on the gauge!! Anyone know if the GT4 cluster is SO different that I will never see the improvements? Am I doing something wrong? (I tried repositioning the direction of the LED chip, but there isn't much change. Anything I need to consider? Below are some pictures. Thanks. I took a different approach and used a single super bright LED. I also removed the green lens inside the speedo, and the result is actually too bright. I plan on replacing the lenses "next time" I'm in there... My thinking is that the multi-chip LEDs focus most of the light sideways, and most of that is lost from the way the bulb sits in the holder. A single LED with a wide dispersion out the end gets more light output where you want it.
I agree and did not use side leds as well but only single forward pointing ones. Results were quite pleasing.
Do you have a link or pic and/or specs on the bulb you used? Thank you! Sent from my iPhone (Which means I am probably sitting by the car, confused.)
DR.! I've installed the 8 chip T10 led bulb, transformed in BA9S. Try rotating the bulbs. Best light spread with chips on both sides, vertical plate, as Nielsk says. The difference is huge! Tested! Rotate the bulbs and experience the light intensity variation. Question: GT4 and 308 speedo have the same structure behind the faceplate? Mine is a 308. New led bulb on the market, expensive but maybe the definitive way to go: new T10 Osram 6W chips!!! Found on Ebay, American seller. Impressive... My results on the tacho... Also good, not as good like on the speedo, but correct -with 8 chip bulb-. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just got a LED assortment set at Radio Shack (no affiliation) on sale, $5... LOTs of super bright regular & jumbo white & red LEDs, blue (worth more than the asking price just for these), panel mount, and so on, very useful for gauges and DIY lamps...
My only issue is my still dark tach pointer/needle. Any thoughts on getting that bugger illuminated? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Robert. As you see in the tacho shots, I've the same problem... The needle is on dark realm all the time... The only way to show the needle it would be to paint it with phosphorescent glow in the dark blue or green paint (only in the raised region, not the whole needle). It would help a liitle. The second way it would be paint it with a UV paint and install an UV led above... As on the discotheques... More radical way (with total dissasemble): install an EL wire over it, with all the electrical complication..., very risky for the speedo. My 2 cents
All good ideas. Here is another. Would a single small led pointing up to the needle from the bottom, blacked out on the outside so only illuminating the face and needle? No risk just small hole in the bottom of tach housing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
