I kissed her good bye for at least 6 weeks as my inner and outer bearings are bad and are needing to be replaced. It's a bunch of cash....just sucks.

On Sunday I went out to the garage to start it up and the battery had cratered again...long weeks of 100F+ summer weather in Texas will do that.

I'm going to get the dead battery exchanged today and if not raining tomorrow, take the top off and head out.

Changed out the filler neck hose and as the car came without outside mirror I located the original holes and placed a new one.
    The car looks complete again

She was missing at high engine speed. She also has what sounds like an arc on warm-up.
There are new extenders (though red and not black) on the car.

Pulled off the front cap expecting oil from a leaking cam...nope. First time I've had the caps off. I tried working on it in place and the wires all connected. Cleaned off the connectors, rotor, etc. Dang if it doesn't run better when you put the cap back on right. :) I had the overflow tank off to make getting at the cap easier.

Pulled off the rear cap - an oil film in the cap, but nothing serious. Though the coil lead was very loose. I learned 1) Remove the wires, it makes working on the cap easier. 2) careful of that center spring. It doesn't come off easy and it doesn't go on easy, but it sure will fly. 3) Check the back of the cap where the wire sits. There just may be old wire fused there blocking complete re-insertion. 4) WD 40 the wires. It makes sliding on that rubber cap protector easier.

Rechecked the front wires. Jeez! one slipped near the air pump pulley and was badly damaged. There was my miss at high rpm. Thankfully, I still had an old set of wires around and swapped one out until I can make a new set.

Still got a ticking at warm up.

And replaced the muffler inserts - the last set rusted away & fell out.

Dead battery exchanged for new one, everything fine now. Had it out yesterday to go the store and cruise around the neighborhood...I'd nearly forgotten how much fun to drive.

Went for pain in the ass CA smog test today and failed for 2nd time. Does anyone know of a good resource for smog issues in SF bay area? Technicians I've dealt with thus far are tossers.

Did have fun on the pre-test drive though.

Tried to adjust the steering wheel. Couldn't undo the squeeze nut on the shaft - I tried everything short of summoning a priest. So I had to put it all back together again. I finally got under and had a good look - it's been peened into place. I should have done what I usually do (sign a cheque).

Mine has been running well lately so today on my drive it was a blast until an oil line blew.
Towed home, now back in the garage for a spell. Crap!

50% of these involve repairs of some sort. Full disclosure. The 308 is my wife's. I wiped it down. She drove it.

Unfortunately today was my last 328 drive for the year. Car is now in storage for the winter. Won't see it again until April 2014.
