With a lot of threads in the vintage section being about value lately, I figures I would start one about the vintage cars getting used. Here is my Daytona in the car park at the local Sainsburys today. Needed some supplies and a drive out in the Daytona is a lot more fun than the daily drive Alfa. Anyone else have a recent picture of old Ferraris in everyday locations? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's one of me on an expedition into Italy via the St. Bernard pass when we bumped into another Daytona. I was unable to get in the weekly shop but I would say this is an every day location. It is if you live in the hotel or house at the bottom of the road anyway. Is this the sort of thing you were thinking? And I applaud the initiative to start a thread without the mention of $$££!! I am but not in the Daytona, it is in for a bit of an interior re-trim. Hopefully bump into you there.
Cool pic. Every time I find myself in a narrow parkingspace, I joke to my wife that it is a good thing we didn´t take the Daytona (which we don´t have), but I see it can be done after all
Great thread, not often you see these cars used unless it is a car show or some kind of event. Not my car or video but nice to see a 250 swb out and about in London. It's first drive "somewhere" that wasn't a test drive to adjust something. Went for ice cream about 3 miles away w/ Donna. Low quality cell phone picture. Bill Image Unavailable, Please Login
By modern standards the Daytona is pretty small, and fits comfortably into a standard parking space I did actually look for an empty part of the car park, but the Golf came an parked next to me while we were in the shop
this reminds of an incident a few years back. i was at some garden center in surrey, and had gotten out of my car after parking it. right then a lusso drives up and parks next to me. an older gentleman got out and opened the boot to get something out and the boot looked well used, as did the rest of the car. not decrepit in any way, just used. i asked him if he always brought a lusso to the garden center....he answered actually yes ! he only had one car and had owned it since it was new........
Damn! The cars may have gained in price since then but I think that something valuable has been lost along the way.
Not entirely fair since it was Monterey weekend (2011), but I was still surprised to see it parked with all the daily drivers / rentals. Cheers Jim Image Unavailable, Please Login
Having crossed the old St. Bernard pass (see second photo in the thread) we eventually rocked up at this very nice Ferrari memorabilia store opposite the Ferrari museum. Great mural. Image Unavailable, Please Login
