Goodafternoon guys. This is my first time posting on FerrariChat and im a first time Ferrari owner. Im having a problem that started only this morning, on my morning drive my 91' 348ts started lightly stalling in idle and gear losing only 50-80rpm's for just a slight second. My check engine light comes on every time it unexpectedly loses any kind of rpm but goes right off. It rained pretty hard last night and it sat outside which has led me to believe my Cat ECU's may have gotten wet and gone bad. I am only getting a 1/4 check engine light and when i try to run the codes i get cut off by the engine stall which brings up a solid check engine light that cancels the ECU diagnosis check(Although i did get it to read one whole code w/o getting cut off-(4121). I tried too see if its maybe just my right CAT by switching it with the left and although this did bring the 4121 code to the left side it is not enough to set the 5/8 CEL off and the 1/4 CEL never goes off even after the switch. Kinda stuck here and deciding if i should just go ahead and buy a new pair of CATS or if I should just take it to my mechanic . Hope you guys can help me I know this place is filled with the greatest Ferrari minds out there. Thanks
Hi and welcome to Fchat! You might want to fill out your profile. There may be someone in your area who will be glad to help! Sounds like a bad connection somewhere!
Thank you plugzit will do! Turns out it was those cat ecu's that had gotten wet so it was causing problems. Dried them up and let it sit now cars running perfectly. Gonna seal up the cracks today. Will do however plugzit.
if the potting material is black in those things they'll eventually fail. Happened with my 348. drive the car in the rain on side would get wet, then shut the bank down. think the ones with the green stuff in them are the good ones. haven't seen one of those go bad yet and either of my cars
