Sounded like my dentist's tooth drill. Or maybe like my weed eater.

The last great sound in F-1 was the V-10s. Man those were beasts.

'94 and '95. The engines displacement was decreased from the '94 3.5ltr to 3.0ltr for the '95 season.

Any who the Honda sounds good until it runs out of rpm's due to the max rpm allowed and the gearing.

    F1 dead again.
    Drats.
Just glad I got to see it while it was something.

KERS, small wings, lack of V-12's, and DRS, finally took their toll. :(

    The 911 is not a V-6.

I feel very fortunate to have been able to attend over 20 grand prix in person during the period of the n/a V12, V10 and V8. I am thinking about all the money I will save from not going to races in the future. The new turbos remind me that I need to get into the dentist soon to have an old filling fixed...

Was anything really broken before? Look how close the 2007 and 2008 championships were before they had to "improve" the show. Now we are to believe that the switch to turbo V6 engines are going to be vastly more relevant and eco friendly? They may be compared to the old specification, but that is faint praise and similar to being the valedictorian of summer school.

    1978-1987 BMW 1. 5 4cylinder 1200hp, Tag/Porsche V-6 1100+HP and the list goes on.

    Renault was no slouch either.

Engines of that day made some very respectable numbers.

That new V6T sounds even worse than an Indy car, due to its lower displacement; what a joke. V6 is probably the worst sounding engine IMO, and on that clip it sounded like a siren :(. And yes, the V10s were glorious. I won't pay to watch those either; TV only for me :D.

Yes, I realize that. But it is a 6 cylinder, and the objection to the new F1 engines is more the cylinder count than layout.

Also, it was just a joke. :)

I happily admit that I am glad I never let cylinder count or engine sound corrupt my love of F1. On another note the rule of the engine must be a V6 and single turbo is a replica of IndyCar, no imagination imho. Set a limit on displacement and fuel only but allow any engine configuration and power adder beit a S/C or a TT setup or a combination of both.

    +1

That and the 80s were turbo, and what an age of F1 that was.

Great point. Since the new rules in 2009, we have had boring title battles in 2009, 2011, and now 2013. The title fights from 06-08 were awesome. Every one of them.

The races themselves sucked unless there was rain. Quali was the race, with the ridiculous aero sensitivity those cars. I don't mind the tire situation we have now, on track action has been at it's best since Pirelli started supplying.

Disagree. These days it's just gimmicky. I miss the days when "managing your tires" was a seldom heard phrase and DRS was a pipe dream.

I agree somewhat. The problem is the technology does not seem to be cutting edge in any way. Oooh but they've boosted KERS power. Who cares?
