Provisional calendar for 2014 has it in June ... June 1, in fact. June is NOT in the fall. Spring of 2015 is also NOT in the fall. Maybe it will happen then?
Latest rumors have it that Valencia is negotiating with the NYGP organizers for a deal to sell them all their race infrastructure: catch fences, stands, barricades and catch barriers Still gives me some hope that the NY GP is on for next year. Wouldn't that be sensational!
It WOULD be a sensational place for an F1 race as the location next to NYC would be a fantastic coup for the organization. However, if it does not happen at least NJ got a couple of new bus stops!
So, what is the latest, June? I can not imagine they would put the race a short time before or after Austin. And I also can not imagine the teams loving the expense of three trips to North America.
Actually bernie waived Valencia's cancellation fee and is making them send allot their fencing/barriers etc to NJ. He's trying to make this happen.... Really can't see them fitting into June as car as their packed calendar is concerned...
And today, this. Progress is being made on the Formula One circuit in New Jersey, but will it be enough - Autoweek That 3 story building doesn't look to have enough ground level slots for the amount of garages the F1 race has. I drove through the area in April, and it is some different, but not the progress I would have expected in that time frame. I guess the road resurfacing will come in the spring, when it gets warm enough. I will be surprised if they use the existing street surfaces, after seeing how detailed the asphalt had to go down in Austin. Still hopeful for this race sometime, before my daughter moves out of Hoboken.
The buildings pictured in the article are of Condo's going up and I believe the 3 story one will be a hotel from what I have read locally. The "supposed" paddock is complete and open to park in. That big parking lot is now shut to commuters and has survey marks/flags everywhere as does River Rd. The other link posted has a valid point. PR wise there is nothing going on and there hasn't been for two years now. They do have a FB page, but there's only like 1000 followers. Get on the horn if this is going to happen or if you want investors. I've said it many times before F of N.A is up the road heavens sake. Have them put a car in the Ferry terminal. Most commuters don't even know what the heck and F1 car looks like!
In one photo in the Autoweek link, looked like residential homes very near the proposed track, it that true? And does anyone have a link to the actual proposed layout? Thanks
I'm getting sort of tired of this saga. They make it real hard on fans trying to plan a trip. The lack of transparency is downright astounding.
You talking about COTA? NY is actually easy to plan: It is either on or off and right now it looks more like off than on. The thing with NY is that you will always find a direct (!) flight and a hotel. Even if you book a day before the race.
