The Z51 is such a good deal though that it is kind of pointless to order the C7 without it.
True. In fact, Corvettes have always been good deals. The difference now is that the car is so good, it really is a viable alternative to something more exotic, like a Ferrari. Is it a true "replacement" for one? No. But at less than one third the price of a California, and still a fraction of what a 911 costs, not bad at all.
Taking delivery of a crystal red with tan interior in about 3 more weeks. Price/performance on this car is tremendous.
I counter that. In some colors, this car is absolutely stunning. This is pretty funny. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I sort of agree and don't agree. The C6 borrowed way too much from the Ferrari 360. In doing so, it lost some of it's uniqueness. But, the more rounded shapes do tend to be more neutral and therefore, not become something obvious and boring over time. I personally think the C6 is boring as hell which is why I was never temped by one (that and the interior). I do agree though the exaggerated details of the C7 can date it quickly. Actually it is really already dated by the heavy use of black boxes all over the form. And, to be honest, the paint they use called "carbon flash" looks a bit cheap to me already. No design is perfect. Style is constantly changing. What we find beautiful today in 50's American cars was considered horrific and old fashioned in the 60's.
I thought the tail lights would be the weak part of the design, in part, because of the black trim around them. Having seen one in person, I think they work, at least on a dark color car. Surprisingly, it's the chevron shaped vent on the hood that I dislike, regardless of color. Interesting comparison of the c 6 to a 360. With the possible exception of headlights, I don't see it. I never liked the c 5's because their features seemed too soft, whereas the c-6 had sharper, more defined lines. In many respects I feel the same could be said regarding a comparison of the c-6 and a 360.
Saw four C7s at a local Corvette show today. Interesting details in the headlights, note the Vette flags. Also, just realized I caught the reflection of the white one while taking a pic of the tan interior of another. Yah... they stuck Vette logos all over the car unfortunately. It's even in the windshield defuser areas along the edge of the glass. IMO: Tacky. I'm stiff not warming up to the chrome fish logo stuck on the side either. There are some details where I think their marketing department overruled the designers. I would have reduced the size of the Corvette logos on the front and rear maybe 40%. But the rule of thumb in America is "bigger is better!"
Not really. The number of folks that ordered mag ride when it was available across the C6 product line was very small. Z51 orders are what they are because that is literally ALL GM showed through the C7 intro and the only C7 any car magazine/internet site has tested. Jimmy
I've sent three emails saying I wanted to buy this one: 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray for sale in Chino - 1G1YL2D79E5103062 - M K Smith Chevrolet Even used the 'get a quote' on their website - nada. I suppose I should call, but I don't like the "well come on down and lets talk about it" routine. For $72k, you would think you could respond to an email within 3 days, especially when you get three of them over 3 days. Times must be "Ferrari Good" at the Chevy dealers.
They must be reading this thread, just received the price for the $72k car: $92,085.00 I think I'll call back east to a real Corvette dealer.
Call Mike Furman at Criswell Chevy. I'm buying a new convertible at MSRP. PM me if you want the information. They can ship the car to you anywhere (well, a dealer near you) or you can pick it up at the factory as I'm doing. I haven't heard of 20 grand over list but 2 to 5 is pretty common with West Coast dealers. East Coast dealers seem to be right at MSRP. The average selling time for a C7 is 5 days once it hits the lot. That's really fast. But it won't be like that forever. Next summer, it will all simmer down. I wouldn't be surprised if you can even get a deal for a few grand under by then.
I have to believe customer loyalty has declined, at least in part, because customers always feel like the dealer is trying to screw them. Mark
I think it is just business. I bought my 2013 427 convertible alot under sticker and ordered my 2014 vette at sticker. The Dealer I deal with is honest from my experience and that is thier rep from this area. A car is worth what people will pay for it and that works both ways. Lee Lee
I mean it's not a BAD looking car, but those taillights just don't work for me. The black plastic bits festooned all over the car are distracting. I like curvy cars, and the C6 - especially the widebody Grand Sport and Z06 models - are just awesome and muscular looking. I've owned 4 or 5 Corvettes and feel the C6 is a hard design to follow. I saw a cyber gray C7 on the highway today and still don't like the rear 3/4 view.
Obviously the number of magnetic ride (F55) buyers improved for 2013 Corvette production sales then. There was 41 percent or more than 5600 Corvettes built with F55 for 2013 MY. In addition, 75 percent of all 2014 Corvette orders thus far have specified the Z51 Performance Package, which includes features like dry-sump lubrication, electronic limited-slip differential, auxiliary coolers for the brakes, transmission and differential, along with larger brakes. Of those Z51 buyers, 54 percent have also selected the optional magnetic ride suspension system. So far a percentage increase over 2013 numbers for F55. CH
That's a whole different subject. I didn't think it was all that bad, but it was definitely on the plasticky side like a Lumina or any number of GM's other mundane cars. Modern Corvette interiors have always been less than stellar. I haven't seen the inside of the new car.
