And to make matters worse, I don't have anything that can play Bohemian Rhapsody when I'm driving.

Until 2 years ago, my '88 Mondial 3.2 was my DD. (And this was for 9 1/2 years.) Since then, DD is a Mazda RX-8. Previous DDs were 1974 Lotus Europa Special (for 9 years), Pontiac Fiero V-6 (6 years), Mustang GT convertible (4 years), & Mercedes 220 w/ 4 speed. Each was a great car in its own way.

My DD was an E39 M5. I recently bought an MX-5 that I modded for track use and ended up enjoying driving it so much that I decided to sell the M5 and use the MX-5 as my DD. It's too fun. No really, it is too fun -- I have gotten 3 tickets in the last two months. :(

Land Rover LR3 - It is incredibly capable and has surprising utility for it's size. I've had a number of Rovers and, for better or worse, they are another passion of mine. I don't see getting anything else when it is time to replace this one.

BMW 550 sport - With a twin turbo V8 and the computer setting on "Sport +", it is just fun enough for a big sedan. Super comfy and fast, this car is great for road trips, a night out with the wife or just zipping around town running errands. I've owned many Bimmers and Benzes over the years... both ///M cars and ///AMG cars as well. The car before this was an S-class and definitely impressive for a big sedan. All that said, I think my next luxury car is going to be a Tesla Model S with the Performance Package. I drove my brother's Tesla the other day and I see what all the fuss is about. That thing was truly fun to drive and it might as well have been designed by Apple. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about all these people driving around surfing the web, but I did find that touch screen in the center console to be pretty incredible. The Tesla is a rolling computer and it needs no gas at all... the Germans and Japanese have some legit competition for my dollars in this category, and based on all the ones I've seen on the road... I'm NOT the only one.

Just picked up a 1991 Alfa Romeo 164L as my new daily driver. What a sweet car.

Twice the horsepower of the Mondial, great handling and nice sounds, but not nearly as pleasant to listen to as the 3.2 liter V8 from italy.

how is it as a DD?

I had a softtop, half door Wrangler for a little while, it was fun but made daily life a PITA (before and after I've had a series of Cherokees/Grand Cherokees).

I'm considering a Wrangler 4-door when the diesel version comes out. this time around I'd get the full doors and hardtop :)

It's loud as you know, and I ended up selling the hard top and only using the softtop. There are only two advantages to the hard top, rear window wiper and that that window lifts out of the way, other wise it's heavy and just as cold, hot, and loud as the soft top. I would not like half doors either, in the summer I used full canvas front doors so I could quickly take them off and throw back the top.

I'll say the new suspension on these JKs is great, it's hard to believe it's a solid front axle. So most people don't mind the ride. With everything stock I can get through snow, mud, and hang with modified Jeeps off road.
