I understand his point - but I don't agree with it. Like I said, it may have special meaning.
To most people it would appear disposable, but to him it must not be....

Or maybe they just want to catch the guy who stole it....and/or make sure he doesn't profit from his dishonesty.

And figure out just how he got in there in the first place!

That bothers Me far more than whether Nico's helmet is special to him or not! - Where was the security?

The guy could have sabotaged a car and changed the outcome of an entire season! (if he'd got into a different garage! ;) )

I love the notion that just because someone has a lot of money and or a lot of something (helmets) they shouldn't whine about it being stolen from them???

    It's ridiculous....

If someone steals my baseball cap, I'd be pissed..

    +2 ;)

FWIW, he also notes; "I have never given out an original race helmet."

Whether that's right or wrong is a completely different debate..... I guess that's his "suspicion" - Maybe he's saving them for later or something.

    Cheers,
    Ian

    I was thinking the same.

He has done over 140 races. Imagine that many helmets. That's no longer a trophy room, that's a memorabilia warehouse. Definitely not enough space for that in his Monaco apartment.

I totally get it when F1 drivers collect the cars they drove (e.g. MS) but the helmet of each race?

PS: Now that he is married, his wife will tell him "to get that crap out of the garage". Happens to all of us. :)

Anyone else remember when Coulthard had something wrong with his Helmet at the Monaco GP in about '96? He used one of Schumi's back ups for the race. Made for a strange sight!

Today's helmet business got (like the rest of F1) way more professional: As Phill pointed out, each driver has multiple helmets in the garage. Same goes for any scratches etc, just pick another one.

Very cool picture. MS in a McLaren, what a fantasy! :)

Also look at that middle wing, weird but interesting. I already forgot all that.

How did "Block head"'s head ever fit into Michael Schumacher's helmet?

Wow...never knew that happened. Imagine Massa dropping by to loan Vettel's helmet...what a strange thing.

DC's one was fogging up...Great sportsmanship from the German, and rarely talked about.
I can see certain drivers bumming a helmet of each other...

Vettel, bottas and Kimi wouldn't mind borrowing each other I'd think. Hamilton would borrow his to a select few (although I hope not with rosberg, that would be even more confusing!).

I'm sure there was plenty of clearance considering the size of Schumacher's chin :)
