I personally disagree, I think all the best looking cars were from 2003 - 2006, after that the cars just got bombarded with wings and aerofoils everywhere which made them look too busy and I think.... ugly. 2009 saw a more back to basics way of thinking, in terms of aerodynamics. Ok the tall rear wings and the very wide front wings are the prettiest but better IMO than 2007 and 2008. As for KERS, I think it's working. It's still within it's first 5 years of being introduced and next year it gets stronger. The drivers can use it for a lot longer and it produces more power. I think KERS is better at defending a position rather than attempting to overtake. Also lets not forget that it's starting to find it's way into road cars, albeit incredibly expensive high-tech road cars but it has to start somewhere and eventually it will get better and cheaper, just like other invasions from Formula 1 have. Plus it's not just about producing more power, it's about making the cars more eco-frendly and up to date. Which is good for F1's public image. We all say bring back the V12's and V10 of old but that simply isn't possible any more.
Turkey was already great, for the most part. And given the parameters he did a decent job with castrating Hockenheim. What I totally love about Tilke's designs are the dressing up part of the grandstand and pitlane in the style of the country. From that perspective even his boring track designs like Shanghai, Bahrain and Korea look great. Singapore is a disaster but there he was limited by the city streets.
Really? - You need to watch a few more of Alonso's starts and how he uses KERS to assist him when the lights go out. You also seem to be under the impression that all of the drivers use KERS at the exact same time, but that's not true! Drivers work out where their car is naturally strong and where it needs assistance to either defend their position from the car behind or where it needs help to be able to attack the car ahead. Basically, KERS is used by the drivers far more tactically than for a mere "push to pass" operation.
Goodness no! Another procession! Look at last weekend at Japan. Old school circuit, no run off areas, just gravel. One mistake and you are in the barriers. The problem about Tilke is, i feel his designs, no matter complying with the FIA standards, are just lacking in imagination. Istanbul Park and Sepang are good circuits, the rest are just straights, and tight hairpin. Lots of run off area. Hardly challenging.
Probably true but the procession would happen at my door step. As much as I love the Sepang circuit it is a two days journey away as opposed a two hour flight.
The 2009 changes resulted in some of the ugliest cars ever and the "fun for the fans" that is the blown diffuser concept and Red Bull domination. Ugh. Newey was getting smoked with the old regs.
I think the wide front front wing is a joke for safety reasons and it looks ugly on top of that . Kers is a joke for cost reason in 2009 the car that world championship didn't have it. I with the other person on here 2000 to 2006 were all time best .
