    Gang,

My Drivers side headlamp refused to open last weekend on a drive. Never happened before but, in retrospect, it had been raising slower than the pass side one. Can't tell if it's a motor issue or electrical issue.

I ran a Search and did the usual things - swapped the relays between LH and RH side motors. No difference. RHS motor still not going up. I then replaced both fuses with 10amp from the normal 7.5 amp ones (as some suggested.) No difference.

Here's what's also odd: With the key in position 1 and the headlamps in the on and up position, when I turn the manual override knob above the Drivers side headlamp motor, I can turn the knob about 4 times and then the Driver Side headlamp motor springs to life, popping up the headlight and illuminating it. Both are now up and lit as normal. I can then turn the steering column stalk headlamp knob off and the headlamps will return back into their buckets as normal. But when I turn the headlamp stalk knob on again, just the pass side headlamp pops up.

    What's the next step here?

Sounds like the headlight motor Ketel,

This seems to have become a common issue with these cars. You can pull yours apart, inspect and clean as necessary or order a used one. I just ordered one from Ferrparts. I would keep your old one and have it rebuilt for future use as Ricambi doesn't seem to stock new ones anymore.

Never been inside one of these motors, but it does sound like it is a motor issue. If you take it off and disassemble it, I'm sure you'll find some corrosion in there. Most likely, it can be repaired at a electric motor repair shop, if your not comfortable doing it yourself.

I know that when I took the window motor apart on the passenger side, that's all it was. Sanded it off, cleaned it up and applied corrosion protection and problem resolved. Goes up and down in about 5 sec now as apposed to the 12 sec it took before.

I'm open to taking the motor out and servicing it, but I have no idea where to start. Is there a manual or DIY somewhere on how to remove, clean and service the motor? There is next to nothing in the WSM on this. Shocking, I know.

    Bueller? Anyone?
