If you're looking to sell a spider I guess it's bad cause there's other sellers competing against you. Besides that I guess it has absolutely no effect on my life whatsoever.

    ...not to mention

    99 - 458's
    124 - 430's
    59 - 360's
    6 - 348's
    7 - 328's
    5 - 308's

Not sure I understand the original point but lots of Ferrari's for sale. I guess in the overall picture 24 355's for sale isn't too bad compared to some of the later models.

I have 1 of the 2 Jettops that were ever made. Had some issues but now after making several adjustments I can drive a spider or a Berlinetta depending what mood I'm in..

Not long ago was there a debate of the most $$$ and I stated it was not the spider. Note, the point was the market and not what one perfers.

We all know that more spiders were produced than hardtops so this is no huge surprise

My point is that spiders sell for less and the reason they do is because buyers typically have many more to select since the market usually has plenty for sale.

I'm sure "Flame away" will be understood after this post. ;-)

They are worth exactly what the buyer wishes to pay. Market value comes from many data points that support sell / purchase price.

Interesting data Monte. I've not followed other models so I wonder how many 430, 458's were made. I'm surprised so many out FS

This is a discussion board, unfortunety every discussion turns into a fight. I find data interesting, just like the data Monte posted about the number of 430's and 458's for sale.

    Data shows trends, that's all.

    Yes, I'm happy now ;-)

Definitely a Buyer's market for 355's now. That's why I traded mine in for a new car. I netted $49,000+ on a mint 95 355,spider 15,500 miles but was due for the major service. Great outcome for me as even after I had spent for the service I would not have made the money back, plus no selling hassles.

I predict within the next 10 years that the 360 will be worth less than the 355 (Spider or not).

    Just documenting my prediction.

I don't share my data, however sell it for a premium only if I like you.

The only way that will happen is if owners of the 355 keep the prices artificially high. People seem skip right over the 355 and go for the 360. Its a great car, but a money pit, especially the spiders. Who would ever design a top that almost squishes the driver when being operated? They should have just left it manual like the 348.

I'm in Houston this week so definitely need more gel with the humidity.

I think you could draw many conclusions from this on spiders vs GTB and GTS siblings. They're all great cars but you can see this trend all year long - not just in the fall. Long term, spiders will be more sought after (and be higher priced). - they always have been, but not now, until many of those made have been retired by accident or poor upkeep.

You could apply that statement to almost anything, not just the convertible top.

It's actually the opposite and by a large margin. Twice as many hardtops as spiders were produced. There is speculation that the U.S. market received a disproportionate number of spiders, but probably not nearly enough to reverse the ratio.

    My appologies, I stand corrected:

    Per Wiki

    4871 GTB's

    2577 GTS's

    3717 Spider's

The money pit thing is not true. I spent the same on maintenance on my 355 the last 2 years as I spent on my daily driver.

360/430 are production cars and I don't see them becoming desirable classics like past Ferraris. I think that era ends with the 355 and some even say it ends with the 348.
