Page 2 #36 of this thread shows the Compomotive 17" CNX wheel on a Bora. Page 11 # 218 shows the same wheel on the Bora in a 16" size. My personal preference is for the 16". Just Sayin! Ciao, George
While the Pirelli web site shows a 255-50X16 tire these I belive are only race tires. I do not see any street tires in this size. The TR people are looking for the 255 50 X 16 and they are getting very difficult to find
eugene those are street legal rally tarmac tires somewhat similar to the R compounds found here on a few factory stock cars in america.
Well they're certainly not up to modern levels of accuracy that's for sure. I've never had a problem with this in the Maserati's I've owned or driven. My Espada is way off but that's because that silly gearbox on the LF wheel that drives the speedo got a wrong set of gears at some point in time. At 26/27 = .962 ... Its mostly about appearance I suppose. Anyway, I like the stretched OEM wheels the best. I also think the OEM Merak wheel has always been a nice design, better than the BORA IMHO. But the reality is that the BBS style wheel is the easiest to do I suppose. Forgeline did a set of custom 3-pc lightweight wheels for my GOC @ $650 (a while ago now) a rim so I think they could make a set fairly easily but I don't think they have a center that obscures the non show quality of these car's suspension & brake components like that BBS basket style does.
You could check out these companies: ET Wheels by Team III Wheels EVOD Wheel Gallery « EVOD They'll build custom wheels, in some cases milling them from a solid block. They probably wouldn't be acceptable in Europe - no TUV certificate - but if they're strong enough for a Mclaren F1 or Shadow DN-4, I'm sure they'd stand up to my driving.
yes im in absolute agreement with you there. merak wheels are fabulous, its just to bad they arent slightly wider and staggered (misused modern term) in the back. i suppose its quite a bit easier today with a scanner and cnc's to custom build a bespoke sized based on the original design. im a big fan of group4 wheels since they honor the original looks of the vintage campys and cromodoras according to r&t test a merak is traveling 26mph while the speedo reads 30mph. cheers
Cant speak for the Merak but I've driven a couple of Boras at full tilt in Nevada many times and there wasn't any problem with the speedos on those cars. I seriously doubt that R&T has as much seat time in them as I do.
Bob, U r right again. The R & T Merak articles have all sorts of information that is either not accurate or just plain wrong. Still, it's fun to read what was being writen back in the 70's, if just for nostalgia's sake. Ciao, George
ive have had over a dozen jeager/veglia cars. and over the years ive driven a dozen more. some were close most werent. freeways out on the westcoast had speed check signs or markers were you can confirm over a 3 or 5 mile stretch. now its pretty easy with an gps or an iphone app.
soooo much prettier with the euro type bumpers. its a early build...but not a square headlamp car. when was the cut off date or serial # for the square lamp cars?
Have no idea. It's barely noticeable. The hood lifts from the front on this one of course. Not so great ... The earlier USA bumpers aren't too bad looking either. The trouble with the rubber ones is the rear. The front can be made to look like a nice styling update but not that rear. Makes the car look fatter as well. But damn are they effective and useful! The European ones are absolutely worthless as bumpers.
I think the Bora is a tough car to photograph well. It looks much better in person. Just got this pic off my camera which shows the Bora from a great angle. (PS - The hubcaps are off for a polish). Image Unavailable, Please Login
I would buy it, right here, right now, in an instant... stunning design! Hopefully, they have learned their lesson not to use silly citroen technologies
Pretty drawings, stupid article. So little is know or described about this car that it's hard to make any of the comparisons that ARE made in the article. What's "Bora" about this? Not that it has to be. Replacement for the MC12? It's not even in the same universe as that was a completely different sort of car. Hopefully this would much more practical and a whole lot less expensive! If this was lightweight and had the twin turbo V6 pushed to it's max then it might get built. But put a high horsepower engine like the V8 in it and it never would be allowed. Keep it under $150K USD or even lower would be great!
