Thanks GAW I did see it. I'm a little older and really predate even the remote lock era so simple antitheft will work for me. Today is the big day! Enterprise picks me up in the morning and then I'm off down the coast to the dealer. Spoke to the guys today and the owner will be on hand to talk me through things. It's had an almost complete "restoration" save the 30K so we'll see if my bid points amount to much more than that. ;) I was so pleased to hear them offer to meet half way.

One last question... can you use an OBD2 reader on the 348? I know it's OBD1 and should have the ecu buttons and all that. I'll look it up.

May get some door guard trim to put under the front lip or just grad some plywood and blocks from the garage at home if necessary. I'm starting to dread leaving the car in the street while I do this.

Hope Friday traffic is not bad in the after noon. Should be on my way back up before nightfall. Maybe I should take some pics for the Brotherhood if all goes as planned?

    Thanks for all the support.

OK just saw the ecu test switch video and another post on the codes. No sweat, I hope the Spider has one.

OK traffic was murder today and I should have left at dawn. Barely made it in time to get the wire transfer done from my brokerage firm. Car is stunning with full respray, new exterior belts, (lobby queen cam belt) new tires P zeros, good vents with little sticky if any. I have to admit I was a little green about insurance between states but a quick call sorted that. Short version is the car stayed put and will be delivered next week. :( But in all that traffic, perfect paint, and bloody concrete demolition along 95, it's just as well. Clouds or dust crossing highway was not cool. Didn't really have time for pics or test drive (more traffic) but we did start it. It's totally stock and exhaust sounded great. I didn't get a chance to check the slow down lights since their guy was in the seat but they took good care of me (I hope!) It was the owner's car and they all wanted me to have the 3m clear bra installed. Warned about driveways and all. It was in a show last week or so and they said they got a couple offers but luckily my deposit was down! So I got a break of about a grand so it was close to the NADA price. It's less than 10% off so I'm not worrying about it. I'll go over it here and deal with stuff. It was inspected in NY this year. The plan is for Stabilant, Black Silicon the Cat ecus and get the battery tender ready for winter. Other than that just drive it and learn the gear ratios.

Yeah thanks gaw. I want to say that this "gift" is a tribute to my late wife Kimberly who sadly died from ovarian cancer last year. We met in library school and she worked in corporate libraries/records and I've worked in academic/public libraries. She spent her last healthy years working for Iron Mountain as a consultant and they took great care of her. She took great care of me and now her insurance is too, and has given me the chance to get another "baby" we could never have. My dd Miata (now boosted) is the first one and we toured all over and had just started with the club when she got sick again. She fought for 6 years, 2 clinical trials and was the sweetest, most courageous woman I ever met. For her, I am considering a vanity plate reading RSSINA for Testarossina ;) (ROSINA is already taken in MA) Kimberly was a petite Redhead and we had great fun at Lime Rock with the Nutmeg Miata club. I know how the 348 is called the baby TR and this makes it an AWESOME tribute to sweet Kim. I'm feeling mixed emotions, my brothers didn't want me to do it (though I didn't mention the tribute) but it was a perfect find (knock on wood) And who ever though of a used performance car dealer in "Deer Park." Any Buddhists out there that know what I mean? I study Kung Fu too so this was very cool. I've got buyers remorse, but the owner also suffered a family loss, so we all kind of came together as car guys. They put a lot of work into the car. It's a cool shop and I thought I saw a 50s Caddy in the workshop, fins and a hardtop. Lots of Audis and BMWs on the lot. Oh yeah, front spoiler is perfect now and may even be the dual vent challege lip.(?)

Sorry to hear about your wife. It is a hard loss to deal with. I myself am a retired military officer, so the income would have never allowed for such a toy but I always dreamed. But when my parents passed, they left me some money, so with all my bills paid off, I was able to live that dream! I guess I had a little buyers remorse but that didn't last long. Now I enjoy my car often and drive it a lot. It has been very dependable so far. I've owned the car for a year now and have driven it 6K miles and it has been a pleasure to drive. My original plan was to enjoy her for a couple of years but now I plan on keeping her forever!

I love the styling but had to make a couple of mods. They include the 360 wheels, a Ferrari stereo from a 360, chrome rampantes on the front and back (only came with a black one on the back from the factory), fender badges, painted the calipers yellow and then the start button function. Plan on adding a performance exhaust and high flow cats in the near future and that should be about it. Before this car, I owned a 944 Turbo, had the car for almost 20 years, so, not into swapping cars much. Thinking this will be the last true car toy I ever own, unless F430s get incredible low and then it may still be a stretch! Low tech cars mean I can work on them myself and I do! :)

John- A great story and congratulations on your 348. Always liked the styling on the 348 and the Spider is particularly attractive. Now you can think fondly about your wife whenever you drive her.

You got it guys! Thanks so much. My heart has been up and down the last 24 hours. And a lot of it is tears of joy :D I used to tell my late grandmother Mimi, on my mom's side (Italian), I bought a Miata, but I married a Testarossa! She would roll her eyes in true Jersey girl fashion. :D

My salesman told me the belt has been inside the engine all this time in climate controlled hotel, and that changing it right now would ba a waste of money. Is all of the belt inside or just the top under the covers? I'm ready to order stabilant and black silicon for the exhaust ecus.

Thanks Ernie! My transporter helped me out by driving it off the trailer, into my driveway and then the garage. I hadn't driven it at all due to traffic last week in NY and wasn't sure how I would be on the apron. I set down a couple 2x4s and small plywood sheet for each wheel track and car came in with and inch or more to spare on the lip. It was drizzling so my "Rossina" got a light christening with holy water from heaven ;) Dabbed her off with microfiber towels and had lunch. Went back out to check all the gauges, lights ands switches. Mad mice still work! But there is no rear view mirror (?- Ferrari windshield) Cover disappeared from the bag. The wrench tray is missing and the thermos(?) I'm not too worried about those. I have an fleece lined cover ordered now and the rest of the car is in great shape. Engine looks nice and the one MAF sensor clip I pulled was clean. Stabilant soon. Love my factory badges. Paint is incredible and I think I may have swirled it a little already, unless that came from the car show trips this summer. Is the Alpine Sirius head unit stock? Glove cover doesn't stay up but man, I can't wait for my DMV-1 so I can get my plates and inspect it. It has an NY inspection can I get by with that? Don't think so since it's new reg. 7 days to inspect. Hope mirror isn't a problem maybe install a quick one. I backed it out and back into the garage after dark. "Plenty" of room in my 1928 garage ;) Can I still get a Brotherhood Tshirt?

Living in Mass with a 94 Ferrari Spider is a blast. I also leave it parked with the roof down and the windows up. There is usually so many people around it that nobody thinks of stealing it. If I get concerned I simply open my hood turn my electric kill switch. I also purchased a cover that goes over the windshield and the seats so that I can prevent rain from getting in without putting up the roof while it is parked. I can get you the info on this if you would like. Lastly, as far as service goes, Ferrari of New England had a winter sale for a complete belt service for $5999. I checked with a few very reputable independent shops as well and the prices were similar. I felt the 2 year parts and labor warrantee from the dealership was hard to beat. Of course be prepared for other " issues" once the engine is pulled out. Good luck

Talked to Lo Jack today. They don't do alarms anymore just tracking. One system had own battery. Is this still worthwhile? I want peace of mind to deter as well as track. I was even thinking shock since my dd was vandalized in the spring. I don't plan on parking the 348 in the village here at all. I will take it out places and not leave it long. any other alarm suggestions. There's always The Club too. I have my old one on it now but though of getting a new yellow one.

Also need to add rear view mirror. Surprising but not a big deal. any suggestions?

Then there is the front lip and 3m clear spray or film. What's the best approach?

2nd attempt to get it registered tomorrow. I have a friend at the RMV I totally forgot about. We're going to check the title and provide an affidavit to correct the dealer booboos when he signed it and FedEx'd it back. Seriously, this happens all the time he said. The waiting is killing me so wish me luck. Maybe even inspect it although I need to pick up my visa first for Brazil F1 :D
