That is some crazy stuff. Guess this major is turning out to be a lot more than a major, isn't ? Well, you can always raise some cash by selling those wheels.

My major ended up having some cracked plastic housings around the timing belt. naturally they were replaced with new.

Plastic can still cut like a knife at the right speed.

I'm not clear on that. A common problem is a bearing failure that causes the drive sprocket (#16) to run crooked. The original roller bearing (#3) should be replaced with a ball bearing. The "fences" on the pulleys have a tendency to come loose and should get some tack welds to be sure they stay in place.

You're lucky the nuts-in-the-oil-chain problem didn't break the chain, stopping the oil pump and seizing the engine.
I'm still confused by the "cam guides were reversed". Do you mean the little things that are supposed to float just above the cam belt above each exhaust camshaft drive wheel?

item 35 and 36 in the chart above.

one has a guide on the outside and the other on the inside.

    They were reversed.

That's when I was still bright eyed and bushy tailed and had just bought the car. Didn't know that there is a huge difference in which mechanic to pick...

Will post some new pictures soon.

    The hole got welded.

Many parts got plated. Valve cover and intake plenum got painted.

Clutch cover got acid dipped. Engine bay is going to look sweet.

Coupled with newly rebuilt shocks, new front end linkages, straight pipes, new clutch, new starter, new windshield, new tires and new paint the car will look like new!!!

So excited. Have been without her since April.

Looks great Kai. Can't wait to see her in person.

On another note, I was able to pick up some challenge wheels for my car and will likely out them on soon.

    Mangled tappet or shim maybe?

Sorry to see all the trouble. You're handling it like a hero though. Can't wait to see how much better it runs when done.

    Camshaft oil plug.

Apparently it came lose and has been bouncing in the engine for who knows how long.

I would say that ... you have driven the car beyond the edge. This is why the major is done on a regular basis so that we catch other things while we are into the engine. Forget the life of the belts, and the smoothness of the tensioner bearings, it is the other things that will get you.
