He said it was hard to photograph, that's one reason why.

BTW IMHO the darker colored cars look OH so much better with light rocker panels.
A bunch were mad in stainless about 10 years ago.

Lighter look best in dark rockers.

    It has slimming effect.

agreed! that is lovely. there is nothing so striking as that on the market or in the pipeline. that would the movie star...Ferrari move over!!!

that would be befitting of the bora name!!!!

Yet another reason it won't get built?

Although the Gran Tourismo got built ...

I would just like to see Maserati restored to greatness. my quattroporte III, merak ss and bora were all among my favorite cars. so distinctive and so fantastic to drive. I wish I had each of them in my garage in mint condition. the qp was a chariot. the merak was a jewel. the bora was a spectacular gt!!!

a new bora such as that rendered (sans the front fender vents) would be a real maser!!!!

Couldn't agree more. .... and Maserati must have such car to keep up the exclusivity of the marque needed to sell the planned quantities of Ghiblis, QPVIs, and even Levantes...

If has to in some substantive way be less than a Ferrari of similar nature. Limiting it too a V6 would work. They also need a name, Bora belongs to VW so if they haven't lost this one too I think Chubasco would be OK?

Chubasco would be a great name for that car! But perhaps not likely though, given that the Fiat-Ferrari takeover "killed off" the original one....

V6 sounds just right - as one might expect from a Merak fan :)

Twas only a concept with no realistic funding. This would not be that sort of ultimate performance leading edge car. This will be a very pretty reasonable sort of car. A bit of a plodder by exotic standards. It's all that will be allowed.

I do agree with you, this car is:

    1) too beautiful
    2) too amazing
    3) too great
    4) too sporty

FIAT and Ferrari would NEVER allow something like that to be built under the Maserati brand.

Essentially, they wouldn't want to sell that for 150k, instead they would prefer to stick a Ferrari badge and sell it for 300k.

It would be more acceptable by the share holders ;)

    Still, we can only dream...

Outstanding!. This is the perfect cross breed between an Aston Martin Vanquish and the gran turismo GTS! I would be the first time I would not mind reusing an old label..

If they build that car for a reasonable price with a v8, I think this would be a market hit. the guy who designed this has lots of talent.

If Ferrari is smart, they would make and sell this while remaining in the maser spirit, that is a gentlemen sports car not a Ferrari. The most hurt here would be Aston and it may take away from the GTS.

I agree with this position - Historically Maserati differentiated itself from Ferrari and Lamborghini in the level of refinement they offered their clientele. The original Bora is a good example. It has solid GT qualities with comfort that can't be found in the "boy racer" nature of the contemporary Ferrari BB512 or Miura.

Maserati would do well to market to this strength, and the Ferrari brand can keep its image as is.

The Bora concept looks the part. Elegant. (Personally, I'm not fond of the rims.)

Any idea if there would be a market for the early stainless steel US bumpers ( with the two long front overriders)
My brother in law has bought a very nice 73 car and he is thinking about the full Euro conversion. It looks much easier to do on the early cars since the lower panel and the exhaust look identical to the euro cars.

Just received Bora #1044, which is the third from the last built. According to Fabio the car was built on September 1978, although it has an "official" build date of 12/77 on the door :)

Only has 17K miles and with its original paint and interior. Engine compartment is untouched. Many thanks to Omar for taking the time to check out the car. This Bora is exactly was I was looking for.

Now you've seen a Bora with a passenger side footrest.

Take a look under the intake manifold and you'll see it was fitted for nitrous at one point in time.

    I love that color combo.

Yup I remember Gary and his ownership of the car. He picked it up in the Bay area and stopped by a friend of mine's house, George Marin noted Bora expert, and George had a good look at it. By that time the nitrous system had been removed. Gary sold at the peak back in 1990 I think so it was a short ownership?

The night he got that award he was very drunk on a huge bottle of Veuve Clicquot and drove back to the hotel somehow? We did award ceremonies very nicely back then - Quail Lodge.

If memory serves the morning before the show the rear hatch was stuck closed as the release cable slipped and Al Burtoni came to the rescue as he knew where the emergency access points were.
