Hi gang. I just started my first project on my new 348 Spider. Seems the car did not have a rear view mirror. It has a Ferrari windshield and only 3000 miles on the car. Side mirrors are fine. So I stopped by Pep boys and they had an easy 8 inch kit and a 3m mount plate you could buy separately. So I cleaned the spot with alcohol, measured, marked, pulled the tape and then stuck it on. Instructions say apply pressure for 3 minutes. Then wait over night to hang mirror.

Also washed my dd Miata and checked my vacuum lines to the boost cards, intake, and new a pillar gauge. Just had a cold side supercharger installed :D was getting an egr code and some fuel smell. Tightened the egr nut on the header and checked all the small vac lines on the manifold. There was some fuel in there and I pushed one on it's T a little further. I'll get on it tomorrow if the egr stays good and don't trip a code. 10 lbs of boost and good a/f ratios already. Baby Beast. "Rossina's" little sister. ;)

I am interested in what little surprizes you find with a 3000 mile car that is 19 years old. Did you do a Major ? What about the belts and seals ? Tires ? Andy You can PM me any little details you wish to share.

Well we did discuss this during the deal. All exterior belts are new, tires as well. The car was a lobby queen and dealer told me that doing the cam belt now would probably be a waste of money. I still haven't gotten a good look at the belt and I'm waiting for my stamped RMV-1 form to come in from my insurance agent. Need that to start the registration. Hopefully this week. It was delivered Wednesday and I've run it once or twice since then. Stereo works great including a USB input. I did notice a little chip in the paint at the pivot on the drivers mirror. I did that, but it has to get folded in my tight garage. Next month it will be in storage. Mad mice still work. Plastic a little sticky in places but not bad. It's also living under an old cover of mine but a new one is on order with a fleece lining. Ferrari cover and wrench tray were missing from kit, and thermos too if that's what was in the Styrofoam. Not worried about it. Just want my docs to come in! Sounds great and only had a 100 miles put on it since resto and went to at least one car show since July. Got three offers there but I had my deposit down already. ;)

I considered that car when I was looking months ago but all of the old rubber scared me. I would love to hear about your progress to prove me wrong. Good Luck

The rubber looks new now. All new tires and exterior belts. That may be why the owner didn't want to budge. He did give me a grand off but I spent that on transportation ;) Latest discovery is no tonneau cover for the top when down (AFAIK) Top works well but the wind blocker rubs the plastic window. Need to figure out how to stow that down when the top is up. Mirror is mounted with no surprises. I did chip the paint on the drivers mirror mount :( But I do have to fold them in my tight garage. No sweat, it's small and I can touch it up. Got my new car cover with fleece lining. No mirror pockets so folding mirrors is still a good idea. I am arranging for clear bra installation when my darn rmv form finally comes in! Grrr. It hasn't been out of the driveway yet!

Why would they say that you don't need a major. Isn't the timing belt 19 years old? Those hard to get to hoses ? Is this the car that was at Harrahs ? I am so curious about this car.

This car was at Prestige Motor Works on Long Island NY. It was in HI for most of it's life. I did the Autocheck. Then was dormant for 4 years and this was probably when it was at Caesar's Palace in Vegas. Crazy turquoise to purple respray. Then came to Austin TX this summer for auction. The owner bought it for Prestige and did a respray back to factory Corsa. (We both lost family lately and I am glad to help him out "for the love of Ferrari") All new "exterior" belts and new tires. The car has been a lobby queen for most of it's life. I know the top of the belt was covered, but what about the bottom? Yeah, I may be ok till spring but it's getting colder now and my garage is not heated. Storage facility will be ok but not heated either. I want to get under the car and look. Even if it is needed soon, I will go to IFS in Easton and get the non dealer 50% off rate. 5K is fine with me and I'm getting good support from folks here and with the South Shore/ RI club. In case you didn't see my other thread, my late wife Kim was a petite Redhead, and the 348 was known as the Baby Testarossa. The owner lost his son to an accident at home and I'm dedicating this car to Kim. I'll get a standard plate first but then a vanity next year reading RSSINA (Rossina) for Kim.

Even with a major I think you got a fine automobile. Congratulations. Sorry for your loss. Andy

Thanks Andy. And I was just looking at the engine out video. The covers go over 90% of the belt except the bottom by the crank pully, and a little opening to the right. I may just try with a couple mirrors tonight or tomorrow. I really want to get it registered tomorrow but the dang RMV form is taking forever in the mail. My agent mailed another but man, that just stinks! If it looks aged. I'll wait and flat bed it to IFS from storage in the spring.
