What a cool car! On their web site, it looks like a 166MM. 001S was a 166 Spyder Corsa that was crashed in 1951, destroyed and scrapped. The actual 'first' Ferrari is supposed to be a 125S. The 166MM was the first road car, and many were also raced. The very first 166MM is listed as 002M, and I believe it is owned by Robert Lee in Sparks, NV. Looking closely at the video that was shot with Ed and the car, now I am not sure what model it is. It would be great to check the archives and see where this gem really falls. The way Ferrari's numbering system worked for many years is the odd number cars were road cars, and the even were race cars.
This is 031S. No where near Ferrari's first car 01C or second car 02C which were 125S's and neither of which exist today. The oldest existing Ferrari with continuous providence is 159s 002. Fitting it with 002's second Motto body and making your own chassis plate doesn't magically turn 031S into something it's not. http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/031S.166Inter.htm

Take a look at the referenced article, he is not claiming it is the first Ferrari but rather the first Ferrari ROAD car i.e. the first one not intended for racing. Agreed his posting is misleading. Cheers Jim
If you read the thread you'll see at one time he thought it was the first Ferrari. It's not the First Ferrari Road Car either. This car is: 031S 49/jun/09 166 Inter Berlinetta Stabilimenti Farina, RHD The first road car was: 001S 48/feb/04 159 C Allemano Spyder, RHD Best
Thank you, I was not aware of its background (I did a search on 031S this time). The thought occurred to me that there was more to this story, unfortunately that was after I hit the send key. Knowing the background, it will be interesting to take a close look at it if I can make it to the show. Cheers Jim
