I'm having my Major Engine-Out belt change on my 1999 355 F1 Spider 16,000 miles. Any tips on questions to ask other than the big one "$COST$". Other things to be checked while there and things to watch out for?? This is my first time on an engine out..

Please check my: hydraulic lifters, and oil pump tension pad.
Do you rebuild my water pump?
What brand of tensioner bearings do you recommend?
Do you replace all the coolant hoses?
You plan on cam timing the engine, right?

It may be too late but it really depends where you bring the car. If you bring it to a shop that knows 355s and I sure hope you have then they will know all the things that should be done. So where did or do you plan on bringing it?

All good questions. What brand of tensioner should be used? Also, this may be naive of me but, cam timing..as opposed to?

Do a smoke test on the headers ( if OEM ) to make sure that no leaks are present.

Cam timing the engine as opposed to the lock and swap method. Which locks the cam gears whilst changing the belts, a lazy and faster way out of doing proper job.
