Ladies and Gentlemen, it is that time of year when I begin hawking the forums boards about KewlRides.org’s annual event. Once again KewlRides will host the Toys For Tots - Toy Drive /Vehicle Show (Tenth year running, all vehicles are welcome) for the United States Marine Corps' 2013 Toy for Tots campaign. See details below.

KewlRides.org presents the 10th Annual Toy Drive / Vehicle Show

    for

The United States Marines Corps 2013 TOYS FOR TOTS Campaign

    December 14th, 2013, Show Time: 11:00 am- 4:00 pm

    Location:
    Miller's Ale House
    10750 Davis Dr
    Alpharetta, GA, 30009-4775
(Off 400 exit 8 Mansell Road)

What we want to see is loads of toys; as Fops has been saying for the past years "Let’s put a major dent in the USMC Toys For Tots 2013 goal". We know from years past that the car community has come together for this one event knowing their work and efforts are bringing big broad smiles to children that might not otherwise have anything for Christmas. There will be trophies, raffles, silent auction and fun in general. All this is to generate more toys for the kids.

To register ([email protected] or [email protected]) your Baby, (remember the registration fee will be a New Unwrapped Toy or Toys brought to the Toy Drive / Car Show) please provide the following information for registration:

Full Name - Jiminy Cricket (your name of course)

Year of Car – ???? (the year of your car)

Model – Convertible, Coupe, Sedan (the model)

Make - Corvette (Dodge, Camaro, Ferrari, Firebird, Porsche, Trans Am, Viper)

Club or Group affiliation – Ferrari Chat, GALXC, Muscle Car Evolution, KewlRides, 6Speedonline – Porsche, (your club or group)
Forum name – Lucky Dog (your forum name, Corvette Forum, Ferrari Chat, GALXC, or any of the others)

Send this information to: [email protected] or [email protected]

Remember to register ( [email protected] or [email protected] ) early, this way we will have you in the database correctly and have your dash display ready the morning of the 14th of December.

    If you were there last year, thank you and we are looking forward to seeing you back this year, if you were unable to attend come see us this year. We have been filling this trailer for these past years and wish to fill her to the brim with toys. Again if you cannot make it to the event there are Toys For Tots drop boxes at various location or you can make a monetary contribution at the following site;

    Toys Fot Tots Donation Site

With that being said, we look forward to another year of fun, comradery and seeing all those fantastic vehicles that we love so much. See the link KewlRides.org or the attached flyer for the details. We will be looking for you and the kids will appreciate your donation.

    See you there;

    The KewlRides Team.

I plan on going to this. I have been going to the Toy Rally in south Florida for several years, but think it is more appropriate to support the local kids in north Georgia. Is there any special requirement for the type of car to attend, or a requirement for the amount of toys to bring?

I have a smallish email group that I organize car drives with, and would like to have the Kewlrides toy drive as our December event. I would guess maybe 4-5 cars would show with my group.

    :)

    Bill,

All cars (and vehicles) are welcome, if you can use the email in the body of the post above to pre-register your car, it allows us to have the dash display sheets ready Saturday morning. If you need a copy of the flyer send me an email ([email protected]) and I will attach a copy and email it back to you. The is no requirements for the amounts of toys (we will take as many as you bring, the more you bring the more for the kids) the USMC Toys for Tots requirement is New Unwrapped Toy (Toys), that also is our registration fee.

We look forward to see you and your group.

    Best Regards,
    Mark

I've been to every one of these (I think), and I'll be at this one. A "kewl" event for a good cause. Let's see a BIG Ferrari turnout this year!

Well boys and girls, we are a month away and counting, get your toys, car, trucks, bikes, scooters, or whatever vehicle you think is cool and friends and get ready to head to Millers on the 14 of December. We will be there, what is your excuse. Remember the Moto; "It's all about the kids"

Please excuse us, Toys for Tots usually runs pretty smooth, so much so, among the team we say the event is on cruise control most of the time. But this year being the10th must have meant something as the email folder that collects the registration (both [email protected] and [email protected] ) had experienced some issues which resulted in registration email not passing through to the team.

We have taken care of the issues and now the registration emails will pass onto the team so with three and half weeks to go, start sending in those registrations and the ones that were bounced back to you as well.

We will be there, what is your excuse

Unfortunately, the weather forecast for Saturday is absolutely dismal, and if it holds, I doubt if more than a handful of cars will show up; I know that I wouldn't, though I will stop by in my daily driver and drop off the toy.

Any chance of specifying a rain date, like Sunday the 15th?

Sorry Jim, doing this for 10 years we have been there in the sunshine, freezing temps, rain, freezing rain and even snow. We hold the event regards of the weather, what we have always said is if the weather does turn on us come on out (Joe and I have establish the cars will not melt in the rain or snow) do it in your daily driver (who knows it might win) bring your toys, hang for a while and enjoy the spirit of the Toys for Tots event, if you cannot we understand

Attendance predictions are something over the years has always surprise us from one that had 50 cars (but the toy and money collection was huge for the group) to one that had 200 cars, we never know until the actual day and we rarely think in terms of how many will show up. What we look at is how many toys we can collect for the kids and how full we can make the trailer.

In closing I would like to say thank you to the Fchat community for supporting this event over the years and if it does rain come on out in those dailys, we will be there (even me). If you know me or have met me you will understand I always say and feel "It is all about the kids"

    Happy Holidays
    Mark

+1. An event like this one should have had a planned rain date if you wanted a good turnout of exotics/toys. I personally don't drive in the rain if I don't have to.

I still think that you guys should reconsider. As of now, the chance of rain is 100% from 10 AM thru 1 PM. It drops to 20% after 3 PM - maybe you should make this a dinnertime show instead?

Mark....I have to agree here with Stephane and Jim. With the rain, honestly, the idiots that have a hard enough time driving on dry roads are down-right scary on days like this. Sunday is supposed to be a great day. (And net-net you would get a much better set of donations).

Just one (another) humble opinion here.

Logistially it may be hard to reschedule at this late date. Maybe just extend it until 5 or so when it starts to get dark.

Sorry Gents, due the way this event is planned and the peripherals that depend on the date, Charles is right. A reschedule is near to impossible, all we can tell you is, drive your daily out to drop by for a while and bring some toys. If that is not possible please take the toys to your local Toys for Tots drop location.

An extension of the time is tough as well as the Marines and DJ will be scheduled for somewhere else not to mention at this time many people leave from T4T and head to holiday parties and start wanting to leave around 3 - 4.

Again, thank you for the support.

When this morning's weather radar showed that the rain might end earlier than previously expected, I intentionally had a late breakfast to make a late lunch (at Miller's) an option; meanwhile I took the Honda out in the rain and did some errands.

Sure enough, by 12:30 the rain had stopped and I threw the toys in the Ferrari and headed to Alpharetta. There were quite a few cars there, but all were American and the great majority were Mopars! The place looked rather like the lot at a Dodge dealership from a few years back, full of Chargers and Magnums.

After dropping the toys off with the Marines, I went inside and ordered lunch. Due to an error in the kitchen, it took a long time to get my food, and I was still eating, fortunately near the patio, when they started giving out the awards at 2:00. I had to put down my steak sandwich for a few minutes to go outside and accept my trophy for "Best Exotic" (which in this case meant only Exotic!).

Frankly, a number of the trophies the car has won have similarly been by default, but I guess the old adage fits - you gotta be in it to win it.

By the time I was done eating, the car crowd was already departing, so no photos this time. I guess my motto for the day was: I came, I ate, I conquered!

Unfortunately the weather sucked. Hats off to mark and his crew fOr this event. As he said it is all about the children. What impressed me is the level of chatter that this event gets on fact. I think the folks on fchat really are really true gearheads no matter the marque.
