My 2.7 f355 runs just great....no cels, pulls mega, idles fine.

    57,000 miles now.

Soon motor out for belt change and clean up/check over.

Might change some connecters to GCK...the ones where the oem rubber boots are split.

Anyways......does the forum think i should send the injectors for cleaning and balancing....or waste of time?

On my 348, they were pulled during engine out (23k miles)and it did make a difference. There were before and after comparisons and the after brought everything back in order, so, most likely worth it.

It helps for sure. If you go full blueprinting it gets up there.
Also remember the injectors are only as good as the signal they get

An oscilloscope is your friend here :)

    Hmmmmmm....

It's not too difficult to remove/install the 8 injectors is it?

Clean injectors is always a good thing. Especially good to have done if the car sits a lot. Clean injectors atomise fuel better, which makes for more complete combustion. Your cats will thank you for that :)

It never hurts to get those buggers cleaned and checked out for problems. Or just get a replacement set. There's a guy on eBay who will get you a complete new stock replacement set with 4 spray holes (vrs. 1) for about $250.

Anyone have any faith in the bottled additives doing anything to clean the injectors?

Easy, Ferrari takes a part like an 02 sensor or injector that costs $50 and puts it in their magic yellow box that makes it $700.

A set of four top quality injectors for my Lotus runs $300 and $600 for a set of eight is reasonable, which is less than Ferrari wants for one. And unless you believe they are lubricated by unicorn spit, there is nothing magical about 14 year old Bosch injectors. It is entirely possible for someone to select a set of properly matched injectors, better quality, with better spray patterns than original for less than Ferrari wants for one. Realistically your looking at $500~600 a set though and not $250.

Thanks but its best, i feel, to keep my originals and get them cleaned and flow tested.

Anything i should be aware of before committing to this?

I have been an advocate of cleaning and blueprinting injectors professionally at every major service. Ferrari is completely silent on injector maintenance. If you want the best running Ferrari you got to clean the injectors. There is all kinds of junk in our fuels. We got fuels that break down our fuel systems. We got fuel filters that sometimes don't do a very good job. Crud forms on the injectors just like the hard water scale on your faucets. Injector spray patterns go non-ideal and performance suffers. The injector cleaner guys also test the injector electronics. They sometimes will go out of spec and it does not take much to get intermittent misfires.

Many have had good luck with Mr. Injector in Idaho.

RC engineering has been very good and an inovator in the area but gotten a bit too big for his britches and started charging a lot. Don't know what his fees are now since I don't use him anymore eventhough he is 10 min. for me.

There is another pro outfit highly rated around the Bay area but I can't remember their name off hand.

There are some Ferrari injectors that have unique bosch numbers. Those injectors are indeed different than any other bosch injector. Something else might work but your Ferrari was designed and tested around that bosch fuel injector number. If you want Ferarri's performance you got to use the right part. One might be able to take a unique injector apart and cobble together the right parts but who has time for that?

Second the suggestion for Mr Injector and RC makes good stuff, but can be pricy and slow, but still good stuff.
The people that "have time for that" are those guys above that tune and match injectors, depending on what makes it non-standard the flow rate, impedance, and form factor may be easily replicated.

There are lots of examples. The 2.7 injector is around $650 from Ricambi but you can find it new (not rebuilt) for as low as $217 if you look around. Once again, Google is your friend.

    It really is disgraceful.

X10 markup is flat out robbery.

The highest markup found so far from reading these forums is about 25-30X for F1 sensors...

Oh, and I should point out that in the example I gave, I wasn't trying to blame the retailer. I'm pretty sure they don't even have a 2X markup vs dealer cost, like many or most retail stores. I think vast vast majority of the markup comes from the folks who put the parts in the yellow boxes.
