My car (96 GTS manual trans) has a slight knocking noise forward of the dash at lower speeds that seems to be in sync with wheel rotation. Nothing appears to be rubbing on the wheels and when the slightest amount of brake pressure is applied, it goes away. When I let off the brake it comes back. Any help is appreciated...

Just guessing, but I would start at the brake calipers, attachments solid, etc.

Just got new tires, watched them torque the lugs. I'm thinking brakes.

Lug nuts as mentioned above or loose wheel bearings.

How good are your brake pads?

I think the pads are good, but I'll check them. I didn't think a pad could be loose. If I pull the wheel off, what should I look for?

If it goes away with brake pressure, it's likely associated with the rotors and calipers, or possibly wheel bearings.

Problem solved in 20 min. The butterfly clip holding the right front brake pads had the wire running under it, so it wasn't holding the pad down firmly. Thanks Ferrari-tech!!!
