The driver side on my car is quite scratched up -- are these painted aluminium in 2003 year cars? If painted would it make sense to strip the paint and sand it for a brushed finish? Or should it be repainted? Does anybody have the paint code/color? Thank you.
I have a set for sale, could easily be send PM if interested. Regards Thomas Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The early years were painted with a lighter, rough silver finish. The new years were painted with a darker, smooth silver finish. Of all the body shops I called, Premier in L.A. were the only ones who knew this. I sent them my center console that had a huge gouge in it to them on Monday and by Friday it was sitting on my front door, looking perfect. $180!
I would repaint. It will be much harder to maintain a brushed finish on such a large panel. When I had my 360, which had a black interior, I considered removing all of the silver panels and having them painted black with a satin or egg shell finish. I really did not like the original silver painted look and did not want to spring for the expensive CF parts.
I am curios on this: Is there anyone who tried to cover them with matching leather, should be an easy job and i will bet it looks good? Anyone? Best regards Thomas 360 CS Spider, Best of both worlds
Mine were painted black, but I recently switched to Tubi carbon fiber inserts. Honestly, the difference between the black paint and the carbon fiber is rather subtle.
Do you have any photos of the Black painted covers mounted? Best regards Thomas 360 CS Spider, Best of both worlds
I got tired of the old look, so changed them all out for Carbon. Not only did it modernise the interior, but it looks so much nice and more modern. Plus really easy to clean. And the truth is I did try to paint the silver parts and made a hash of it!
The silver color code should be in the archives of this site as I remember the discussion a few years back. Personally I would take the others advice of body shop for originality or carbon for modernization. I am thinking of acantharia with red stitching to the steering wheel pod. I think it would look nice also on the center console. My problem with the carbon console and I may be wrong is the increased creaking from the plastic. I would not paint the console black.
I replaced mine with then CF panels Here is a pic Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
There is a thread here : http://www.clubscuderia.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?50171-360-door-trims-repainting.&highlight=door from a UK site which covers this subject in some good detail, you may have to subscribe to see the thread though. Hope this helps.
