    i have a 2012 458 coupe with brigestone potenza stock tires. I set the cold tire pressure to the recommended pressure in the owner's manuel to 33F/33R for these tires. I see in the forums that there is a "factory recommended" pressure of 30F/29R but not sure where this comes from??

    The 33/33 pressure I used the other day was not good at all and I had to let air out to get the car to handle better (race mode/ bumpy suspension setting) and hook up.

    The recommended pressure for Michelin PS and PSS is 30/29. I don''t know the recommendation for the Bridgestones of the same size. Generally speaking, by lowering pressure you will get a better ride at the expense of some traction.

    The owners manual has different tire pressures for different brands. Pirilli is 30 front 29 rear. Check Manual

    Hi Sarum,

    I do remember the manual stating 33F/33R for Bridgestone and 30F/29R for Pirelli and Michelin.

    But to answer your question, I had Pirelli on mine and I found 30/29 to be too stiff. I dropped it by 1 front and back, and it felt a lot better. I don't mind the stiff ride but I don't like HARD tire where you feel like you are going to bounce off the road and sense of no contact patch.

    So your experience with Bridgestone and remedy might be similar to mine with Pirellis.

    I hated Pirelli so much that I got new Michelin Pilot Super Sports for all 4. My Pirelli only had 5000 miles on it and still could go for another 5k miles.

    Now the Michelins are superb. I run them at 30F/29R factory and they are perfect. Not stiff at all, full compliance. I even found the car to roll better/free-er. No sense of rolling resistance like the Pirelli's. Warm up time is also shorter. Overall I feel a 20% improvement over the Pirelli.

    I figure the only thing on our car that touches the ground are the tires. So it is worth the $2k on a $320k car.

    Lastly, get the Michelin.

    Look in the door jamb on the driver's side. It should have the recommendations for your tires.

    Also keep in mind cold pressure means the car having been at rest for at least several hours and the pressure is recommended for 65F ambient temp. You will have to adjust for variances.

    Resurrecting an old thread...

    Cold tire pressures are 30f / 29r (and I see some prefer 1 psi lower all around) for the Pirelli according to manual & door sticker.

    However, I drive in the Cali desert a lot where ambient air temps are 90+ and asphalt temps are very high.

    So my question is, does anyone know the optimal hot tire temps for the OE Pirellis?

    And later I will switch to MPSS, so same question; what are optimal hot tire temps for MPSS?

    EDIT: I just want to drop the pressures before the tires get 'greasy' and the car starts to slide around too much.
