the new facts that have been released also reference them doing 90+ in that area...

That's a great FGT description. While I'm the opposite. Maybe 100 miles in one and 7000 plus in my CGT you've nailed it.

Biggest PITA with the FGT is getting in and out of it in parking lots next to a car. Cirque De Solei stuff there.

 

Thanks for the replys, what I was expecting. I have some passenger time in the FGT, but not enough driving time to really know it. Never been in a CGT. I know the cars are close by the numbers, but it is interesting that they really are that far apart driving.

This will not be the "end of the series"

Fast/Furious is Universal's largest active franchise, worth billions.

They either rewrite 2/3rds of the screenplay and move on with the current production, or they'll take a break, write an entirely new film and shoot that.

Hollywood simply does not leave money on the table.

When Heath Ledger died during production of The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus the production stopped for a short time and a solution was found using two actors to complete the film.

When Oliver Reed died during production of Gladiator, filming was completed and Reed's face was digitally placed on a double for some scenes.

When Brandon Lee died during production of The Crow, they paused, and then completed the film using a double.

When Vic Morrow died during production of The Twilight Zone, the film was completed with creative rewriting and editing.

There will be a Fast And Furious 7, the question remains whether Paul Walker will be in it in any form, or not.

 

I don't think Paul would want the franchise to end either.

 

Two thoughts:

1. By the mileage numbers stated in articles about the CGT having six different owners, it appears that the Rodas may have had only around 50 miles of seat time in this car. Experienced racer or not, with any throttle being used (through a broad corner no less) that's a big red flag.

2. I just read into Walker's charity, Reach Out World Wide, and it's clearly a very worthwhile group. Backing first responders and helping get help to where it's needed quickly is a seriously important cause (and certainly much needed as weather events are growing stronger). If anyone has the means or inclination, consider donating. It's a darn good legacy for this guy.

 

His family has said they don't want the film franchise to end either...

In another article it says he was in a jewelry store when a Army vet who had recently returned from Iraq ran into him and they talked for a bit. Later he overheard him saying to his wife the ring they liked was a bit too expensive, so they walked out. Paul told the Jewelry store girl to put it on his tab and she phoned the couple back. They never knew who paid for it, until his death when the Jewelry girl felt it should be known to show his character.

 

My CGT had the original tires on it when I bought the car. It lost traction and got squirley in third gear... going straight... under moderate acceleration... at pretty low/mid RPM. That grabbed my attn real fast. I changed the tires right away.

With the new Pilot Super Sports on it, the car has way more traction.

 

I think we all know how that third installment of the Smokey and the Bandit series went without Burt Reynolds.

Maybe they could just replace him with Jason Statham and hope nobody notices?

The new warehouse camera footage of the car hitting the pole then the tree seems to indicate:

the car was in a right hand spin
hit the curb and rotated driver door first into the pole,
continued to rotate and stopped at the tree, passenger door facing or in the tree.

Maybe the footage is in time increments, as the pole and tree don't "look" like they were hit that hard. What a shame. Ill see if I can link to the new footage.

 

Surprised we have not seen some type of layout or graph of the scene yet


Back when the Tap out guy ( cant remember his name ) crashed his Stradale I walked the scene since its not far from me to try and understand what happened and it was very clear with tire marks the path of both cars that day.



Still have a small box somewhere in the garage with some parts of the Ferrari I picked up.. Carbon fiber mostly...

 

Thursday's(12-5-13) ET, Entertainment Tonight,, tv show, had what they said is exclusive footage from a video camera, mounted on the outside of a building showing a clip of the Porsche GT moving fast, right before impact. The GT is in the footage about 2 seconds, the ET crew drove the same area, at the 45mph speed limit, the same building mounted camera showed the ET crew's car taking 4 seconds to cover the same ground. They had a expert review the tape, and based on time to cover reference points along the street, the expert believes the Porsche GT was running between 82 and 89 mph. In that curve, at that speed, if the GT suddenly broke traction, there would be no time to recover, and in a split second it would be off the road. The Entertainment Tonight people said the tape has been turned over to law enforcement people.

If that is true and Walter Rohrl found the car scary, that's saying something.

not to lol but come on....... we all know they were hauling ass.

 

Car kept stalling because the person who was backing it up didn't know how to operate its finicky clutch.

These websites just pool together useless sources to come up with some bs story.

 

exactly. I stalled mine a bunch of times when I first got it. had plenty of "look at that idiot" kind of moments re-cranking my car after the light turns green with people honking at you. and then you figure it out and its no big deal.

 

Looking at the aerial photographs of the road, to me it looks like he was taking the sweeping turn at a decent speed and hit the gas pedal a bit too hard too early while coming out of the end of the turn...something that would have probably been ok in one of his racecars with warm slicks, but not on street tires.
