it has been a sad day for us here in singapore ...

apparently, a malaysian registered car cut in without looking, forcing the aventador into the guard railing ... the gallardo's were a result of the chain reaction that ensued ...

the fortunate part of this is that all drivers and passengers got out unhurt.

Why would an Aventador burst in flames after a relatively mild incident ???

This rarely happens to 'normal' cars, but in supercars it seems to be an issue ...

because tanks are in a vuneral area close to hot engine bay...

tank can't be deformed, so it cracks and fuel is leaking in hot area, no difficult to understand how fire starts...

that's the reason why in FIA we used special flexible tank...

yeah! really..iguess someone decided that the burning of a 1/2MM car car is worth the trade off of saving a buckon the gas tank. Never mind the occupants...

  10. That has stuck me odd as well. You would think at this price point, bean counting would not be an issue.

After looking at the pictures, I think this is a good example why you move your cars off the road and out of the way after an accident when possible,

Both Gallardo's appear to have been driveable ( at least out of the way ) and would have escaped un-burnt.

Hindsight is 20/20 , or maybe that was the plan..
