Back when I bought my first 348, it was partially disassembled due to a tranny problem. When I picked up the car, I asked the shop owner for the nuts and bolts for reassembly. He said "I only use new nuts and bolts." I thought "What an ******! He won't even give me the old ones!"
Well, nearly 10 years later, I've come to understand. New ones are like jewelry on the motor. It really makes it look sparkly and new. The time I spend trying to clean old ones...unsuccessfully...just makes them look like clean old stuff. It's much more pleasurable assembling it with new, and overall pretty cheap. And I've got a big can full of old stuff for emergencies!

lol Yes, I would agree that new nuts and bolts are like jewelry. I mean we know how important it is for our ladies to accessorize... :>)

Yes, then at least I LOOK like I know what I'm doing!
And yes, I've never met an Italian lady whose attitude wasn't improved with new jewelry!

Bruce I have a old friend who's a Ford engine designer, say nut or threads to him and he shakes. They have him study just threads for over a year. Absolutely the hardest thing he ever is in 20 years on the job. Ask him and the answer is NEW OEM unless you machine the motor accordingly.
Think I will leave him a thread question today on his voicemail for monday morning happiness

    :)

Just to get back on track, does anyone know of a reasonably priced source for the original hardware ie nuts , bolts and washers ?
