My Wife has named the Daytona 'The Mistress' which has kind of stuck as a nickname.

My Dad names all his cars so his Wife knows which one they are going out in as a name is easier to remember than Ferraris sometimes awkward numbering like 365GTC4

I name everything with a motor. I call them, in order of displacement, Ferrari, Fiat, Ducati, Suzuki, Lawn Mower, Snow Blower, Garden Tiller, Pressure Washer, Chain Saw, Chain Saw with extended handle, Big Weed Eater, Little Weed Eater, Leaf Blower.

Not very original, I know. But also not childish or silly.

Yes, but it still doesn't answer to it's name.

I discovered during the buying/researching process that my 360 spider had been named "Isabella" b her first owner, as noted on the original resale ad that I dug up and subsequently mentioned by the second owner that I bought the car from.

It seemed appropriate (she really Is A Bella Ferrari) and we didn't have the heart to change the name she had always known, so we still call her Isabella. In fact, the binder with all of her records, photos, etc. behind me is labeled with her full name - Isabella Ferrari - on the spine.

I haven't named the Toyotas that we have, or past BMWs, Volvos, Mitsubishi, Mazda, or VW. Izzy is special in that way.

If I keep them long enough, all my sports cars end up being referred to as "that sorry sum*****" or some variant, usually after leaving me stranded on the side of the road.

I just call the Ferrari "the Ferrari" the silver Alfa the "silver Alfa" and the white Alfa the "white Alfa", etc etc except for the Mercedes SL which I call a total POS even when it runs. Oh by the way, anybody want to buy a Mercedes let me know. That is after I get it back from having the recently replaced transmission repaired again.

Blackie: 94 E320, Whitey: 91 560SEC, Hans: 85 500SL Euro, Carlo: 79 400 GT, Carlotta: 85 3.2 Mondial Cab (Bride thinks Carlotta is inappropriate for the Mondi - too soft sounding. Ha.) Grandkids miss "Yellowy" & "Goldie" (81 300D & 85 300D Turbo) for their great MB-tex seats. Go Figure.

I've never named a car. They come with names from the factory.

Kind of silly to name them when they already have names.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee = "Jeep"
    2007 BMW 335i coupe = "Blue BMW" or "3"
    2000 BMW 528i = "Gray BMW" or "5"
    1988 Ferrari 328 = "Ferrari"
    1967 Pontiac GTO = "GTO"
