I don't post much because I'm currently not the owner of an exotic. But I did own a Lamborghini Gallardo for awhile, and one thing I found was the attention drawn to it. Everywhere I went was a photo-op, a bunch of questions, and (mostly) admiration from people. It was nice, and I was always gracious, but it got really old really fast.

I'm going to be in the market for a 308 in a few months because after the Gallardo, I fell in love with Italian sports cars but found I wanted something more old school (and "somewhat" more affordable!). And this got me thinking...what kind of attention do 3X8 owners get? Is your car well received? Or can you get gas or a Starbucks more or less incognito? I'd really rather draw less attention than more, as I'm buying the car to please myself, not anyone else. But if it doesn't work that way, so be it.

Would love to hear any stories.

My 328 draws attention in several ways, drivers pull over and let me pass, other drivers want to race, others drive like crazy to feel better (mostly BMW, Mercs and Audi owners).

Older people stop and talk. Young people don't care that much. Some do take photos ... but I guess they want "transformers" or something.

Like yourself, I enjoy the car more than the attention. However, I'd have to say that in the 9 years I've owned it I do think that they get more positive attention now. A few years ago perhaps the 308 was seen as a "cheap" but dated Ferrari - "vorrei ma non posso" as they'd say in Italian. Now though, particularly with the rise in values of the 60's cars I really think that they are recognized as a beautiful classic Ferrari - as they should be. The attention these days seems to be more positive and from real car fans rather than just folks who see the prancing horse on the front.

My next door neighbor said he was so excited to have a Ferrari on the street that now he could get his Mercedes he always wanted but didn't want to draw attention.
I also have been granted special parking in front of restaurants.

Yes, the M.O.T. lady was more excited about the engine and body style than to check brakes, lamps and suspension ... ;-) She took a photo for her special collection of beautiful cars.

When I was test driving a 308 we had a 10 year old girl in a minivan glued to her window looking at us. LOL

    Attention?
    What attention?
    ;)

I don't know if the blue GT/4 just passes under the radar or with all the exotica around here folks are blasé, but other than the odd "back to the future car" comment I go fairly unnoticed.
Just the way I like it.

I've noticed in the past several years that I get A LOT of attention when I am out and about in the 308. I used to think folks did not care or something, but now its really cool to see so many people enjoy seeing the car on the road. I've gotten nothing but very positive reactions, thumbs up and photos taken.

Never got old for me, used to love sit and talk cars, Ferrari, and let people sit in my car etc. I use to appreciate it when they did the same for me when I didn't have a car.

Very little attention for mine in the MD area. From young folks, none at all. Most of the attention comes from older folks - say 40s+ and usually Magnum PI related. Occasionally it gets comments like, "your car cost more than my house," spoken in an accusing tone of voice.

My 1973 Norton Commando motorcycle gets more attention in a day than my 328 does in a month. It's a sure attention getter and attracts the kids-on-sportbikes crowd, as well as the Harley geriatric crowd,

I think part of the deal with the Ferrari is that it comes across as a snobby, rich guy car to many people who don't realize that a 3x8 is an OLD car and costs less to buy than a lot of cars people routinely drive around. But most think my 328 is a new (current) Ferrari and that I must have therefore paid "300 thousand," as one annoyed lady at a gas station commented. ;)

I don't think I have been to the gas station in the two years I have owned my 328 without stiking up a conversation with someone that approaches me to compliment me on the car. Never have I had a bad comment. All positive. Everyone loves the styling and classic look of the 3X8s.

Sometimes when crawling in traffic with the roof off I can hear peoples comments, usually girl to guy, I have heard the car called a Dino, a Testarossa and a Boxer!

I have had a 328 for a little over a year. I would gauge the attention it draws somewhere in the mid-range. I have owned several newer and older Porsches (little to no attention except from other Porsche owners, hardcore car guys); 328 (more than the Porsches for sure but doesnt away from my driving enjoyment); Lambo (attention is pretty overwhelming...at least from what I have been exposed too). I have not owned a Lambo but have friends that do and have driven and been out with them enough to know, I don't want that kind of constant attention. Some love it, and thats great. For me, its a big deterrent.

If you could handle the attention you got in the Lambo, driving a 3x8 will be a piece of cake! But still a lot more than driving a Honda.

Here in Scottsdale, Arizona, where high-end exotics are a dime a dozen, my 308 barely gets noticed. Seems counter-intuitive since not a day goes by where I don't see 10 Bentleys, a couple 458s, several Gallardos and regular MP4-12C sightings.....one would think the 308 would be unique.

But most people just see it as "old" and that's completely okay by me!

I appreciate the attention too...no doubt. I always felt very lucky to have a car like that and I'd never want people to feel as though I thought I was better than they were for it. But some folks are just kinda over the top and it does get annoying.

LMAO...so true. Lambo's are known for their outrageous styling and that draws people in. I think of Ferraris and Lamborghinis as being in a different league visually (not better or worse, just different).

"Mostly just get flashed by college coeds"

The over 40 coeds, I assume.

The 20 year olds pay no attention at all. My nieces, 20 and 22 have no interest whatsoever in it and think I should get rid of it for a Prius.

I got that in my Toyota.
    ;)

My grown niece and nephews love the car. It's their parents who (silently) disapprove.
    Seems to skip a generation.

My blue Mondial is the same. Other than kids in ricers or clapped BMW's wanting to race once they see the Ferrari emblem I am under the radar 99.9999% of the time. Which, like you, is absolutely fine by me!

Not sure where some of you are driving. I am constantly getting thumbs ups, smiles, pictures, shout outs, etc. I can count the # if times I have driven somewhere and not gotten a happy response from someone on one hand. I'm probably on several hundred Facebook pages by now with all the cell phone pictures I see being taken. If you like attention, bring your car to CO. You'll get all you want.

With your Granddaughter having made her future driving intentions known, you need no further approval or acceptance - from anyone !! :):) This, you already know !!!

    Too cool,
