This thread had me thinking, so I went to an old photo and my second thought was the spoiler is not that obtrusive. Picks up where the roof ends color wise. For now it will stay. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Jay. I agree that it isn't very obtrusive. I did it mostly because it was making that annoying vibration sound, particularly during acceleration, and I couldn't tighten it down effectively. If I ever decide to put it back on, I'll have the pros do it. In the mean time I think I'll go without it. I'll try to get some more photos of it today since I'm itching for a drive.
Hows it going Augustine, Happy to report the old ride is holding up well. Looks like driving is on hold for me until the roads clean up. How does your new car compare to the 87 ?
C'mon, I wouldn't do that, I just placed It on there to see what I would look like. It actually belongs to a friend that he bought for his BMW. But the pic below is real. I don't know who owns it but it's actually real. Image Unavailable, Please Login
This thread has the ring of "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin" discussion of the middle ages. Except that the spoilers are real...for some of us. As they say, "chacun a son gout"...
It's actually very similar. I know there are some front suspension changes on the later cars but it's been a while since I've driven an earlier car so I don't think I could tell the difference. I did get her out on the road today, even though the salt is everywhere. We live once, right? I enjoyed the ride but unfortunately removing the spoiler did nothing to alleviate the super annoying vibration noise coming from the right rear quarter area. Oh well, back to the drawing board... I want to take mine off (88 328 GTS), but cant get a wrench or socket of any kind on the nuts particularly the front ones. When guys say 2 its 2 per side, right? Any hints re proper tools to squeeze in there and how to avoid dropping in nuts / washers? Remove whole decklid (not sure if proper term) first. While i await replies i am going out to the garage to put the magnesium speedlines I just bought from josh on the car! Thanks
I didn't have to pull the decklid. I think it was a 10mm socket, and a bunch of short extensions and universal joints. As always, tape those extensions and joints together to keep from losing them into the flying buttress.

I thought it was understood that the spoiler was added so that there was something to attach your ski rack to. Hehehe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You're absolutely right! My mechanic found that and adjusted it for me. That car is gone though. I bought my original 328 back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
OH NO, where have I gone wrong? '79 308 GTS. Car came with painted targa, a spoiler, which I think it is not supposed to have. And to top it off, the spoiler is not black and neither are the A pillers or the thin line behind the Targa top. How could I have purchased such a misfit? Just look at that awful smooth line of red running from the front nose to the rear bumper with no black interruption. Oh, wait, I really do like this look... never mind, I'll go back to sleep now.
