Turning out to be quite a jewel, I'd probably spend as much or more time ogling it then driving it! LOL

As I suspect will I. Even considering a glazing (gazing) element in the side of the garage!

I think he's referring to the Palm Beach Cavallino Classic show, I'm sure it would be quite a feature shown there

    Palm Beach Cavallino Classic

Indeed, and perhaps a complementary comfortable gazing chair! :D

One further part needing modification and renewal, the inlets from the air boxes to the turbos. Here you can see some elephant hose being sacrificed. Filled with foam, stripped off and the foam core then used as a former for laying up the carbon.

Exhaust installed and I have to ask if there is a better engine zone in the automotive universe? And I do mean zone rather than bay, with the suspension, tyres, exhaust, oil coolers etc etc; just classic.

Cannot wait until it all goes together for real inc intercoolers etc as it should really look quite something.

    Yes awesome!

I gather you are not going to drive her on public roads as you have no muffler? Only track days the as you have already indicated she's no longer going to be raced?

No, I am keeping the current exhaust for testing and then we will fit a compromise for road and track decibel meters which we are yet to 'invent', ideally with the ability to switch to open easily for those rare unlimited days. I am not going to bother treating this exhaust system for now, just clean it up, although I will Zircotec the manifolds shortly and then once we have a final exhaust figured out, will also treat that.

My hat's off to you sir. It's just incredible the amount of work you put in this restoration. (and in making this build report, as it takes a lot of time to take all these pictures and put them in your updates).

This thread is a dream for F40 fans (and modellers). Thank you for sharing, your pictures are a big help in making an accurate 1/18 scale model of a F40LM.

    Sincerely

    Pascal

To those who like black-painted wheels, this is how it should be done. BTW, wheels look very similar to Laferr wheels.

I think that you put the left hand front wheel on the right hand front axle. Shouldn't the "arrows" of the tire pattern face the same way (to the front) ?

You are correct but they are on and off the whole time just to move the car around so no attention is paid. For now.

Upside down shot shows Dashboard now well on the way. Right hand side of the dash all sorted, left hand was dominated by the giant red oil pressure warning light which ensured there was no way the driver could claim he never saw it, as covered earlier in the thread, so that has been filled in and will now be arranged as it should be.

I trust that you are going to cover it with something other than the original material which looked like an early 70s Triumph Herald dash. :(

It would look great either flocked or covered in alcantara. The F40 mouse hair covering looks awful
