The way i read the story was that he bought a 348 to celebrate a formula 1 win and was disappointed with it. And i say this with nothing but love for my 348 , but he should have bought an f40 then he would not have maligned the great 348 with his stupid comments . **** LDM

Thanks for the service manual link gaw111. You mean Ferrari parts are not found in PET? My tablet is going to croak there is so much stuff in the files.

Eventually I will catch up on the acronyms you guys are posting.. deer in headlights.

So from what I understand.. my 951 was just a cheapo disrespected porsche looked down upon by 911 owners, and now my 348 is the bastard Ferrari that "know it all's" love to dump disappointments on. Lol, I tend to disagree on corners as one bastard child cars turns like no other, and the other boosts past thee with ease and incredible control.

Car manufacturers do tend to release good cars at bad times. The 951 and 348 were overlooked by many even though I admit the 60 trim turbo in my 951 will wipe the pants off the 348 after 90mph+.

I agree , i had the full range of Porsche's , but my favorite one was the unloved 928gts , followed second by my 944 turbo , the two unporsche porsche's .

Are there different types of factory steering wheels found on the 348? Because my height is +6ft I cannot see the RPMs or speed gauges & the steering wheel is in the way. Maybe the column is telescopic, lol or I am missing invisible see thru steering wheel button or telepathic speed rpm sensor USB brain port. My guess is no to adjustment and gtec unit is needed.

The steering wheel is adjustable for height only. It may be in the lowered position.

928....probably the most under rated Porsche ever! Horribly supported aftermarket wise, and the bastard child of the marque......and both a 951 and a 928 S4 or later varients, IMHO are so freaking spectacular when set up correctly. So the engine is in the front ....who cares......oh yes that's right you care when the 928 shifts out of first at 50mph and pulls like all hell.....and with suspension work they are a real blast........speaking from personal ownership and experience! 930's well we don't need to go there....that's already a given.....but a properly done 928 gets a really nice view of a 930 in its rear view mirror on the freeway......just my thoughts lol

Welcome aboard Dave, love to see your enthusiasm for the car, look forward to more photos of your new beauty in the sun! Also, not sure if the 348 has a similar release mechanism for the fuel cap as the 355, but if it's a bit slow to release, try a shot of WD40 on the pin and work it a few times, it will save you the embarrassment of looking like a dork at the petrol station (my experience when she would not open up).

    Enjoy!

One problem Blue 90 had better used to fast, is all the pretty babes that will walk up to the car, and ask questions. Tough problem, but hey, you gotta deal with it!

Blue does work well on these cars. My other Pcar is Zermatt silver metallic, the 348 is Medio blue metallic though no idea if non-metallic exists for Ferrari.

So back to the 348.. what is the typical shift point for the gears, 5K ? The trans seems not quite receptive when shifting at lower rpms.

The issue typically with shifts is whether the gearbox oil has been warmed up, I am not aware of any issues regarding rpms  Having said that these cars to like to be revved :)

Warm it up and rev it. Repeated 5k is neglect ;)

Nice 944T. I'd keep that only because the general market doesn't really value them high enough. Unless you need the space. The PCA track hounds do love this car, however.

    These cars love revs.
At least once a week, it should be taken to redline a couple of times (engine & oil warm, under load). Otherwise, you'll carbon up the valves and rings and the motor will underperform. Whenever a car shows a bad compression or leakdown number, I'll have the owner take it out and do that. You'd be surprised how many times it's cured!
Just my learned opinion, flamesuit on.

Thanks, I pretty much replaced everything on that car and its so fast with that large turbo at high rpms. As soon as weather permits the 348 is going to worm burn the road to blow out whatever gunk.

This morning we took the 951 to deliver gifts to family, then switched to the 348 and went cruising in afternoon. Waahoo! !finally got 25 miles on it being the first time able to drive since delivery day last week. It is quick off the line and rpms are so soothing.. so many looks as well it is solid and good purchase. Very happy with the 348, it is a keeper even though now I know for sure it cannot keep up with my turbo it has a lot going for it.

Did you buy this car from Southeast Auto Group in NC? If not, does anyone know that car (VIN 085930)?

Yeah, so is it on the do not buy list? At first I thought it was hurricane sandy car, or nashville flooder. Carfax is clean and no signs of damage.

I'm just new to the Ferrari market and thought it looked like a good deal. I'm just trying to learn.
