Ya.got's yerself 2 problems: it's a car
It's a rare and Italian car.
Normal cars have no apparent reason for parts pricies. You go into buy something and you're shocked at the price. Next day you're back for ssomething and you're surprised how resonable it is.
Throw in that it's a very low volume manufacturuer, there are only a handful of places you can buy Ferrari parts,
In fairness, ferrari parts are like airplane or boat parts: small.volume, parts have to be over engineered for.a tough, high speed, environment. $$$$

 

There are sellers that are serious and then there are those that are not.
Some don't mind waiting months or years only to lower their price. When I sold my 355 it was a done deal in under a few days with no advertising other than this forum.

 

The market is quite stratified right now. Also the gap between seller and buyer pricing is huge. Once in a while you see a transaction where both parties are realistic. That's the market.

 

There are a lot of specifics to the value of a 355 that are only learned with research. Some sellers are looking for a buyer who hasn't done the research and thinks they are buying a top tier car for $80k because it is for sale for $80k. The car could be a $40k car and the buyer might have no idea.

 

I am trying to understand the market myself. Pricing is ALL OVER the place. I know service history plays a HUGE part along with miles. I seen a 20-30k difference in pricing even with similar cars with and miles. I would assume most Ferrari owners don't "have" to sell but just looking to buy something new or upgrade.
